Finally upgrading the last room in our house: master bedroom.

Looking at Ashley and Rooms To Go right now. Anyone have any other suggestions on stores for quality bedroom sets that won't break the bank? Looking for double nightstand/double dresser/bedframe

I just can't justify overpaying on some furniture I see out there.

So having done this in the fall, I will say that the BR selection on master bedroom furniture is weak. You started with the two stores that, in my opinion, were the worst on that level. If you want to stay on that level, I recommend American Factory Direct. they have some things that don't come off as cheap and their salespeople are much better.

Or you could step up to Haverty's. Acceptable stuff and nice folks.

Higher ranking is Town and Country, Bassett, Inspirations (old stomas).

We didn't find what we wanted and wound up going to New Orleans. Looked at Hurwitz Mintz (more furniture than you will ever see) and finally found what we were looking for at Doerr's .

Wish I would have done it years ago. Good luck.

We looked at Haverty's one time. That would be about as high as I go. Not looking for anything extraordinary. Hell even the Wayfair furniture I have is relatively nice.

Really just looking for the best deal on some wood style furniture.

Locally, I like Bassett and Haverty's.

I really like Nebraska Furniture Mart, however, the closest location is in Frisco, TX. They do offer free shipping though on some items.

V watts in Livingston has bedroom sets that are pretty dang nice. Same with couches sectionals etc. no one seems to know about this place due to it being out the way.

Avoid Rooms to Go at all costs. Bought my sons bedroom set from them and the first time they delivered it and started unboxing it, all pieces were full of mold. Trying to get it re-delivered and the delivery fee refunded were a nightmare. Customer service is terrible and the quality of the furniture is very subpar after receiving it.

My old bedroom at my parents house is RTG furniture and never had issues. From my understanding it is very hit or miss.

We saw some nice stuff at Ashley but for everything we need, it averaged almost $6,000 after taxes. I just find it hard to believe that furniture should ever cost this much. At the same time, I don't plan on changing bedroom furniture. Parents still have the same bedroom stuff they had 30 years ago.

I guess I'm just cynical of any type of major purchase.

Doerr's

We never gave them much thought because we didn't think they would have our style. But we went in looking for bedroom furniture and ended up with gorgeous Amish-made wood pieces that were actually a modern style we wanted. Theresa made it happen. She's the best furniture salesperson I've encountered.

You need to get your wife involved in this decision. Also Christian Street Furniture has some nice stuff.

We looked at Ashley and Haverty's. I made the realization that this is likely going to be the bedroom furniture I want to attempt to keep for the remainder of my life in my bedroom, or at least for 20+ years (I'm only in my early 30s) and I need it to be quality.

That being said, checkbook opened up a bit. All of the stuff we saw at Ashley was a mixed bag. Some quality here and there but for the most part I'm glad I went and took a look. Can't imagine trying to buy just from looking on a computer screen.

Haverty's running a good deal. Big President's Day price cuts the more you spend ($1000 off $7500 or more) and most of the furniture sets we saw would already be above that dollar amount AND seem like pretty great quality.
