I have what I believe crabgrass all over my back yard. I’ve tried weed and feed twice. While it’s knocked out my clover, the crabgrass seems to drink it and grow stronger. How can I stop this?

ronk and craw are the experts but weed and feed doesn't kill crabgrass, it's just that, a grass. fertilome makes a crabgrass chemical you could possibly spray but I think best option is pre-emergent and fertilized your good grass to take over the crabgrass. I'd wait for the experts to weigh in though

Need lots of info. Pictures because it could be Dallisgrass, goosegrass, etc. Weed and feed won't touch it. Hopefully you didn't put down too much fert. Also, grass type? If it is centipede you can use Tenacity but it is very expensive.

I speak from experience. If it's this, just give up. It's a fight you can't win.

Most likely the active ingredient in your weed and feed isn’t going to hurt it. You need something with quinclorac in it for post emergence spray.

BUT, the best way is pre emergence.

Even a propane torch held on it for 10 minutes can't kill that stuff. It's evil.

Yep - you need to post photos of what you think is crabgrass for ID - many mistake other grassy weeds for crabgrass, plus you need to tell or show us (photo)what type of lawn grass(es) you have. Some herbicides not are safe to use on all lawn grasses.

Well let’s get you to learn how to post pics - important for lawn issues.

This is the process I use to post photos, using PostImages, 2nd post in the the linked thread, LINK. I know there are other methods but others will need to tell you how they do it.

I’ve done this over a few years at my house. Own 2.5 acres. When I see anything remotely resembling crab grass-I spray it with eraser. Spot spray. This method has essentially eliminated the crab grass in my yard. Some may not agree but it has worked for me. Now I have the bahia grass to deal with.

I’ve been spot spraying dallisgrass with glyphosate over the years. When the yard starts going dormant in the early winter dallisgrass stays green for a while longer. This makes it easy to spot. Yard is gonna look brown in the winter anyway, so all of the dead dallisgrass doesn’t look as unsightly.

Dallisgrass. You'll have to dig or use round up.

The Bermuda will be gone if you cut high enough as soon as the St Aug gets going. That Dallis grass is your worst nightmare though. I tried to locate, sprayed round up, and dug out two wheel barrels full. Then laid sod over the areas I pulled up. I just kept noticing more. It was a fight I tried really hard to win, and couldn't.

If it's just in the area of your picture, I would try what I did. Murder it and dig that shite up (gotta go pretty deep to get it all). Try to rid yourself of that BS if you can, otherwise it will own your arse. I had a beautiful St Aug yard after about 2 years of work, but the Dallis grass never went away. Pissed me off.

So I just sprayed round up on all the places the Dallas grass was present. How long do I have to wait before I cut it?
