I recently purchased a dewalt 20v blower and tested it yesterday with a 20/60 flex volt battery. I was shocked at how fast it went through the battery and I was wondering if the board knows of a quality battery powered blower that doesn’t drain a battery so fast?

Which DeWalt model blower do you have?

How long were you using it before it completely drained?

I have an EGO. Works great until the battery craps out after 5 years. Not buying another.

Got one too. If you have a fair amount of area to hit, it’ll smoke a battery with swiftness. Think I have the 56v. Keep it for the woman. I’ll stay with the gas when I’m cleaning up.

20v batteries are for hand tools, not lawn equipment.

I got the hedge trimmer and pole saw from Dewalt to use with the 20v battery. The hedge trimmer does ok, but the pole saw makes about 2-3 cuts at best and the battery is dead, and i have 3 different batteries, two of them are 3.0amp hours and it does the same to all of them.

You need the 40v or 56v options for a blower, weed eater, etc unless you plan on using them for a very short period of time. It's also not good to drain those batteries until they die.

Best thing about battery blower is you can use it indoors. If your wife tells you to sweep just break out the blower.

Go with the Greenworks 60V line of tools. Nothing less that EGO's 56V. The higher the AHM battery the happier you'll be

We have a dewalt that my wife uses to just blow off the patio or whatever around the house.
If I’m cleaning up after mowing, I use my Stihl backpack blower

+1 for ryobi 40v. I go through a few batteries when I edge, weedeat, then use the blower. I also have a pile of concrete to blow off. I’ve had my batteries now for 3 years and no issues yet.

agreed. i got it a few years ago. it is way powerful enough. it may not be as powerful as the backpack blowers. idc what the numbers read.. the kobalt i have is just as powerful as the last gas powered husq i had that eventually died.

Keep in mind the universal motors in leaf blowers are going to have pretty similar efficiency numbers. I don't know if any are left being built with brushed motors, if so they would be less efficient. My point is if the ones you are looking at are brushless the battery drain is going to be very similar for ones with similar volume and velocity. So if the battery you used is in good shape you simply need more battery capacity (or use more than one) to do the job you want to do.

Greenworks 60V platform up to 40% off right now. Memorial Day could very well be more savings

I have a 58V Echo blower and it is the most powerful that I have ever used. I have a pretty normal sized city lot and I can blow street, sidewalk, driveway, and back patio without it running down. It is pricey, but it is a stellar machine.

I just can’t get into the battery stuff. I’ve got Ryobi hedger and tire pump which are very handy, but they just don’t last long enough. I got my Mom a batter powered one since its easy for her to use and she can start and stop to charge.

For a new blower for my yard I’d get another Stihl or an Echo. Love both of those brands for ease of use, power and reliability.
