Dirt man in Hammond
You want his number? He only delivers local but others can pick up from him

sand, composted bark, chicken manure, clay, gravel.
It does drain well I use it in pots for short stays after digging plants up. I’ve got it 24” deep in my beds and the water doesn’t pool up
Good stuff

Three rat traps deployed today.
Rodents are taking one little bite of a ton of my tomatoes- green and also ripe.
I got the “new” kind of traps. The black plastic snap kind. We shall see.

Used to have a really bad rodent problem.
No matter how many traps I set and poison I put out they’d still be around.
Then I got a cat. Problem has been solved.

Nah man I was just curious but I appreciate the info. I bought my raised bed soil from Mossbunker here in BR and I couldn't be happier.

Today’s harvest
Tomatoes are struggling I’ve got worms and way too much rain. Everything else is blowing and going

wild harvest. We should be able to pick daily for the next week or so. These are going in the freeze dryer

Spent about 2 hours in the garden this morning picking. Looks like family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers will be getting some produce!
After I go through what I need for canning, of course.
The blackberries are slowing down. But the blueberries are just getting started!
Got a few watermelons getting started. Also noticed some bees jumping from flower to flower between the watermelon vines and the cucumbers.
Still no sunflowers blooming yet, but I have one about 10 feet tall that looks like it won’t be long! And my pet bunny has been living in the garden all year. At least I’m pretty sure it’s the same one. Noticed a few tomatoes with some chunks missing, but I have plenty to share as you can tell.

I got to get in the blueberry action next year.

about to start on a blueberry project, I have three rabbiteyes that are about 6 years old but they’ve gotten shaded out in the spot I planted them and didn’t produce much this year
So I’m building an 8x16 bed (whenever it quits raining) out by the garden in full sun, and will transplant them this winter. That should give me time to dial in the acid in the bed soil and find three more nice bushes to add. A bush full of blueberries is as good as it gets

Let's see if I can remember everything.
4 Cherry Tomato
4 Celebrity Tomato
4 Early Girl Tomato
4 Better Boy Tomato
4 Beefsteak Tomato
4 Classic Eggplant
4 Jalapeno
4 Cayenne
4 Shishito
2 Bonnie Bell Pepper
2 Emerald Giant Bell Pepper
3 vines of Mini Love Watermelon
3 Blueberry Bushes (Climax, Tifblue, and Premier)
4 PrimeArk Freedom Blackberry bushes
About a dozen Dasher II Cucumbers
About 2 dozen Mammoth Sunflower
And about 50 Festival Strawberry Plants that are doing extremely poor this year and I'm wondering if they'll even survive.
I think that about covers it. I also have a Meyer Lemon Tree and an Arctic Frost Satsuma. Both are still pretty small but the Lemon tree has produced a good bit the last couple of years.

American Beautyberry in bloom
this will be followed by clusters of magenta berries that the birds go nuts for. Super tough plant, fast grower, easy to transplant. I have a ton of it growing wild in the back, you want this in your yard

we’ve got 2 and we are ankle deep in them.
Yeah I'm regretting planting 4.
I've been giving a good bit away. The only thing I really do with them is blister them. Delicious, but it gets old after a while.

I tried pickling them but the skin gets really tough in the brine and they get kind of bitter. I wouldn’t call them good by any means, maybe splitting them would help

I cannot get my Jimmy Nardellos big enough to move outside. This has been the most difficult pepper I have ever dealt with.
