I tried pickling them but the skin gets really tough in the brine and they get kind of bitter. I wouldn’t call them good by any means, maybe splitting them would help

Same thoughts from me as i tried this too. Don't plan on pickling any more.
I do love them, but I don't want to eat them every day. I've got 6 plants and i've got way too many to eat now.

What I am excited about is my corn. They are looking good and i've been spraying to keep the worms off this year. What sucks is they are just about ready to start picking but i'll be on vacation for 2 weeks starting in about 2 weeks. Going to have to find someone to check them and pick them. Was hoping to get enought to try to make some bourbon from them. Found an awesome video on smoking the cracked corn and using that for bourbon making

I spent about an hour in the garden this afternoon cleaning up and trying to get the plants ready for more production. I’m up to my neck in tomatoes. Had to pick a bunch to prevent cracking. Made 7 quart jars of pickles and going to make some salsa this weekend. My peppers rebounded well after the deer murder. Getting tired of blistered shishitos at this point.

Also still picking trombone squash, regular squash, and zucchini. I think I’m about to pull my squash plants and plant okra.

Need to spray peroxide tomorrow. Plants are definitely showing signs of the constant rain we’ve gotten.

didn’t rain today
the break was nice my wife spent all day in the garden cleaning it up. Still haven’t sprayed any tonics on anything, the sunflowers seem to be keeping the leaf footed bugs busy, that was a nice surprise

Flash flood type rain this morning. One of my raised beds with cucumbers was overflowing. Going to be surprised if they live through this one.
