The flowers look great and my long term goal is to have little to no turf.

There’s also native wildflower banks you can order seed from. I’m planting them everywhere I can from now on

Do you know where to get native La seeds?

As we add new beds, been using native plants with good success, would love to find seeds.

those make kind of a prairie type situation so I mix in a big bag of zinnias, mixed wildflowers, black oil sunflower, rudbeckia, etc. whatever they have at the feed store or tractor supply. This will give you some flowers to cut if your wife likes that and they’ll reseed as annuals

there’s no wrong answers

it’s a fantastic addition if you like the wild look (I like it a lot). Right now there are natives flowering all over the place on roadsides so don’t discount that. I dug up a bunch of spiderwort and put them in my beds too (those are the blue flowers). There are fields of them around me

Thanks, I like the wild look as well, cottage garden style.

I’ve been to that website before and they seem to be out of stock a lot but looks like they current have that mix you have available.

This is my first year growing purple hull peas and they are starting to take off. Should I be supporting these with a stake or trellis? Looks like they could use some support.

I threw out 3 lbs of wildflower seeds at may farm.

I don't know if they will do anything or not but if they do, I may see about selling wildflowers seeds.
Those things are crazy expensive at $46/lbs

Purple pole beans are at the top of my arch. They obviously want to keep reaching for the sun and not travel downward. What am I supposed to do with the vines… will they eventually just fall back to earth when they start getting longer and growing beans?

Yep, you can thread them over to the other side too. That’s what I do.

I have a ton of carmen peppers on every plant, and many are quite large, however, none are turning red. Same with my tomatoes. Any idea why? Is it from all those nights in the 50's and 60's?

NewIberia Haircut. I plant PHP's, probably 100' in rows this year. I never trellis them. Rows 3 to 4 ft apart. When it come times to pick I will have to kick a pathway between the rows. It's easiest just to plant them away from the other stuff. I have a couple raised beds with Ms. Silver and Texas Cream. Beds are 4' wide, so I plant 1' from the sides. They will spill out of the beds.

I had to go get a diesel can at tractor supply and they had big bags of perennial wildflower seed for 10 bucks. This is a good supplement after you get the beds going (it’s only about half seed and the other half is peat moss). So I mixed four bags into a wheelbarrow of garden soil and raked into the bare areas where I want to get more flowers going. I also dumped a leftover bag of that native seed down. Should get a rain in not too long so that should do it

super easy

I like random chance as to what actually grows, and it changes every year

here’s a bed in an old cattle water trough

some of the early bloomers have already gone to seed

I usually just let them drop but I might start collecting seed for next year. in midsummer the birds eat a bunch of them

I’ve got some black bees about 1.5x the size of honeybees working the flowers. Any idea what they are? I’ve never seen them before

Pic time...ignore the weeds. Lots of rain tends to do that. I should be able to get back in early next week if rain stays minimal.

Potatoes on the way out, corn is silking, everything else is loading up. And cucs don't listen.

Maybe a mason or leaf-cutter if I had to guess. They have some all or mostly black variations.

Had a bee on my cucumbers too. I think I'm going to have more than I know what to do with in a few weeks.
