I found mine at a home store. I do not think it's too late.

No I couldn't imagine how long that would take and how tedious that would be. I bought the dry root packs.

I started seeds inside in December and planted them in February. They're still tiny. Something ate the shoots a couple of weeks ago and they have come bag bigger and stronger looking. From what I've read it will be 2 years until I can harvest something. They're in a flower bed along the side of the house.

I finally got around to sowing some cucumber seeds in a pot due to laziness more than anything. I don't have a cucumber trellis yet (or a garden ) but I'm just going to let them grow up my pergola for the time being.

I'm going to have to water the hell out of these bastards for waiting so late.

How much sun do you get on them? I'd like to put them in a dedicated are on the side as well, but it only gets a few hours mid-late afternoon sun

Sunrise to about 2 pm. I'm hoping it's enough.

In the 4/8 bed I planted a few up the middle, and a few in the corners / on the sides. Yes I do usually plant an even number of rows so that would typically fall between the rows, but this year I planted eggplant and peppers up the middle and it hasn't had an impact on them.

They were planted about 7-8 inches deep, so nothing I'm planting in that bed is going to disturb them.

Grew up with a buddy who had parents that grew tons of asparagus. They had them planted in a long, long strip basically under, around and through the azalea bushes if I recall correctly.

I started mine early, and they are just now grabbing my trellis. Must be the cool Spring?

Buy local or online? Any specific variety recommended?

I may have missed the spring window.... may do it in the fall

Lowe's. I have two different varieties I believe Mary Washington's and Jersey Giants.

Not too late at all. You aren't going to get anything from them this year anyways. The first two years are for establishing roots.

How are y'alls blueberries doing? We've got two bushes full still light blue. Hoping these warmer temps will ripen them up.

Maybe. I just grow sweet success cucumbers and some weird pickling varieties from Ukraine (thankfully I stocked up on seeds, . Wait...). They generally grow pretty quickly, but they like hot weather. They also require a lot of water.

I remember reading from LSU AgCenter that when the tops are fully laid over it’s time to harvest. So I pulled my first onions today!

A couple of questions for people more experienced with onions. I've seen some YouTube videos where people recommend letting the green tops fully die before harvest the onions. Should I have left them in the ground until that happened?

Also, what’s the best way to get these to store long term? I’ve read they need to be “cured”. Basically just dried out in the sun. What’s the best process?

I have a bunch more still in the ground so I guess I need to prepare.

I’m drying mine out on a table on the back porch. I’ll be moving these to a rack in the garage with a fan for a few weeks to cure.

Similar to potatoes, you don’t want to clean them completely unless you are using them imminently.

I have zero on all four of mine. They bloomed early due to the warm late winter and all 4 were loaded with flowers / berries. I didn't get a chance to cover them and that last freeze nuked them all. Next year should be a good one.

Update from Cenla
Eggplants are blooming
Tomatoes of all varieties have set fruit, the two cherry tomatoes are loaded already and should start to turn in a week or so
Cucumbers are putting male blooms, waiting to see if they take off on their own before I worry about helping them along. Have a burpless hybrid and pickling cucumbers planted.
Peppers are pretty weak, except the lunchbox peppers I planted. The cool nights dont seem to work well for them.

Next year I will plant a tilled garden to grow butter beans, corn and okra.

I am really starting to enjoy this, but dont want to make it too much.

NW Florida. Picking green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, spinach and chard. Eggplants are blooming. Blueberries not ripening yet. Okra is just pissed. Nights still too cold.

Anyone grow watermelons and or pumpkins?

I’ve disked an area at my farm/property and we are going to try and plant some this year.
I will be putting out lime on the area today and go over again with the disk. Then will go ever with the harrow fertilize and then plant. Pumpkins won’t be planted for another few weeks.

I need a boat to go through my garden right now

Yesterday's rain was great. Today's...way too much. Pumping water out now to keep potatoes from getting too wet. Corn looks like it wants to take a nap. Squash and zucchini looks like tumbleweeds

Such is gardening I suppose.
