I think an irrigation system will be my next big garden project.
I thought it would get plenty of water with all those squirrels trying to poach your veggies.

Nice!
I’ve always wanted to do something similar but with a small pond.

If you want to make your irrigation smart...
I have 2 of these and they are great. Even calculates the flow rate and shows estimated soil moisture level based on local rain fall and the watering amount

Damnit don’t show me this!

I read somewhere for pepper plants, to pinch off any blooms before the plant is over 14” tall, or the plant growth will stunt with the energy being put into setting the fruit.
Anyone else do this?

Also check out dripworks.com, which is who I bought my drip system from.
They have a garden and irrigation planner, as well as plans drawn up by customers to get an idea of what you'll need.

I installed one of these in the fall after my original timer crapped out.
Nothing but good things to say about it. The smart watering system actually works really, really well.

I agree. Even though they haven’t developed true leaves why not try a seedling, 1/2 concentration dose of water-soluable fertilizer on them before you pull them. I also wouldn’t water them every day even though I’m sure your bed drains well.
So I gave them some miracle gro yesterday, and I see results, most of them now have true leaves starting to form. I think what I did wrong was I should have put some seed starter soil down for the seeds to germinate in, I'm thinking my soil didn't have any nutrients readilyy available, so they just used up what food they had from the seed and then that was it.

I take off all the blooms until they go outside. At that point, I only really remove blooms if I feel like I need to because the plant is stunted or something.

Been wanting a good one of these for a while. I’ll have to get one now.
None of the smart irrigation meters I’ve been tracking on Kickstarter have ever succeeded.

This is what I use, no issues with it over past year. Very simple.
Some of the reviews are bad, but I think it’s because they didn’t install a water hammer arrester inline between timer and faucet. Someone recommended it in like the 2nd review and that is how I also have mine set up.

I built raised bed for onions, think I fricked up. I usually get 2-3 crawfish sacks. Doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen this year. To add insult to injury, my yard long beans started coming up today. Noticed when I let chickens out. Hour later they are all cut, bean head on hill. Not sure if bugs or birds. Chickens only 6 weeks, they haven’t even hit garden so it wasn’t them.
