Interesting. Both of mine were brown, so it could be a color thing? It didn’t bother me too much. I just hit them with Jomax a couple times a year when I cleaned my house. I liked the hoses.

I refuse to spend the money on eley even if they may be the best thing out there. Home gardening is a hobby not a profession for me

I get that for sure. I use a hose a lot though. Not just for gardening. Cleaning, boats, tractor, around the house, etc. I’ve spent 10x what I spent on this Eley stuff replacing shitty hoses and reels over the years. So I justified it to myself. They are expensive though - no doubt about it.

Same here. It's worth the extra expense to me....but I use them often.

I have high water pressure and have busted a few hoses, any recommendations for something heavier duty? My PSI is around 120 at the faucet.

What kind of water system are you on?!?

whatever hose you decide on, get a RapidReel . I have two of the models with wheels, but they make the ones that mount also.
They have been a lifesaver for me for many years, worth every penny.

Eley hoses are the best. I bought one, then immediately bought one for each of my outside spigots. No regrets. Speaking of refusing. I refuse to keep repurchasing a hose every other year because they kink and deteriorate. Talk about throwing money away…

I believe RapidReel and Eley are the same company..And yes the hose reels are awesome.

If you have that much pressure, get a regulator, you can find them at a camper supply store. It drops the pressure down.

American-made Water Right garden hoses have great quality. They come in different widths and lots of colors.

The narrower widths work well for watering and are easier to manage, but I wouldn't use the narrow hoses, say, to supply a large pressure washer.

Higher-quality hoses like Water Right and Eley have more memory than cheaper hoses, making the 100 Ft lengths harder to manage until you get used to it.

I have the tan one from harbor freight. It’s been solid for 3 years now.

I have a couple of the tan 50' hoses. Pretty thick wall so it won't kink but it can also be hard to coil up.

Best thing to do is find a local hose supply shop and have them make you one. It'll last for decades.

Whatever you buy, don't buy 100 ft. but buy two 50 ft. sections. You don't always need all 100 ft.

If you want less restricted water flow, get a 3/4 " hose, not the typical 5/8".

Makes a big difference

huh? Just pull out half of it, or a quarter of it. Or all of it.

I’d rather not have to attach and undo a hose as I decide where I want water

What brand? What are the best brands of these expandable type hoses? Do they hold up well?

Just piggy backing on this comment... Anyone have any suggestions?

I've bought a couple expandable hoses...the concept is great, they're extremely easy to handle / roll, but the problem is they all come with flow restrictors. I get big time water hammer when I use them. Gonna have to go back to a more traditional construction.
