re: Your view of creatine for high school athlete

Most teens I know who take Creatine carry around gallon jugs, klean kanteens, or other large water containers all day at school and are very conscious of hydration. My son and his friends all discuss their daily water intake and are as competitive about that as they are their gainz.
As I said on my original post: need to be hydrated with Creatine, but everyone needs to be hydrated. At least Creatine seems to make people conscious of that need.

Oh no not a certified trainer...
Go read the scientific research reviews on it and stop depending on uneducated trainers and uneducated doctors to get an opinion.

I wouldn't take it if doing summer sports in Louisiana. It's already a huge dehydration risk.

This was a long time ago but I always felt like garbage and bloated the year I took it in high school. It did its job but didn't agree with me physically. A buddy of mine suggested L-Lysine and a lot of protein and I switched to that and had good results with strength and weight gain.

Ahhh…I think I know the person you are assuming I am. That person who could not explain what a covalent bond but when it comes to gym performance, is atomic laureate about chemistry in a container?
FYI - Travis Kelce’s trainer in FL is one of the folks who shared that they frowned upon them.

Was just curious why that is not leading point for Creatine risk as I am learning this is primary concern to mitigate.
Upside gain worth the risk? Seems most here say yes.

I mean its not that hard to avoid dehydration if your conscious that it's a concern. Drink water and electrolytes problem solved. If you're not responsible enough to handle that then you have bigger problems

Not at all, I'm just saying read the studies. There are thousands of them.

Can someone link a specific brand their teen uses?

Why would you put that shite into your kids body?

Does your kid not eat red meat?

Because it's one of the healthiest supplements on the planet, to the point every person in the world should really be taking it and it's natural as it's found in red meat.
Question is why would you pull a Tim Brando and offer am opinion about something that you don't know a mother fricking thing about?

Definitely has shown himself to be a dumb arse when it comes to health and performance.

Thank you for your thoughtful response.
Not a fan of skirting natural things for extracted natural things in a container and is why I am asking.
Had a couple of professional trainers who work with professional athletes share with me that they frown upon them (dehydration risk for teenagers who are not responsible enough to sustain the hydration behavior required). However, many users love them and the studies do not raise serious health hazards (except dehydration risk).
If something is found in nature, that is where I prefer to get it. Creatine is naturally made in the body (ie, naturally found in red meat (muscles of humans and animals), then will eat the red meat (not the cannibal kind).

Neither am I, but you aren't going to get 5g of creatine from eating red meat

Names. They're talking about it publicly so it shouldn't be an issue.

I will say this. I have been taking pre-workout since 7th grade. In the beginning, you knew you shouldn’t be putting it in your body. I can’t even describe how it made me feel. Several were taken off the market. I bought them at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. There’s a new one called C4, which isn’t nearly as bad. Feel pretty normal other than the caffeine kick. I did find out there was creatine in it (which I believed they removed), perhaps they just took it out of that one particular brand.
Anyway, I got my blood test and my creatine serum skyrocketed 80% in the red zone since the year before. I don’t take it anymore, but my doctors had no clue what was going on. Dehydrated? Major Kidney problems? But looked at the bottle and sure enough it said creatine on it. Not much by the way. Anyway, I stopped taking it and will get a blood test very soon. I’m healthy as hell. I believe it was the culprit
ETA: I got big on creatine when I was younger. It absorbs the water in your body
I think C4 took the creatine out. At least the last couple I have, but it may just be and off shoot of the brand

C4. Can be found in Walmart, GNC, VS, CVS, Walgreens, etc. on the surface it doesn’t look too bad. About 2 cups of coffee with actual good stuff in it, but it’s the Blends that you have to worry about, and that’s where creatine lies
The ones I have now don’t have creatine. Either way, I don’t take it anymore

As far as the OP, get your kid in the gym at least 5 times a week and invest in some weight gaining protein. At that age, he will be fine. It did wonders for me.? I did take creatine pills for a few months, but I was in junior high to early HS

These weight gain powders are not good for you at all, but they won’t kill you. Just bad for health. I took them on an off for a few years. I will say this. It works. Couple that with multivitamins and supplements and your son will put on mass in no time as long as he lifts relatively hard. It will transform his life. I got strong as shite doing this. Without lifting, you will just get fat
I went from 180 to 208

Why? Other than your rambling nonsense.

I’m speaking from personal experience and what trainers have told me. Just read the back of the bottle and bag. I don’t regret any bit of it. I still have 2 massive bags of it. I drink one from time to time. Protein, testosterone, etc are important to me
