Wish me luck.......colonoscopy tomorrow

Prep work starts in 2 hours. My first colonoscopy is tomorrow (46 y/o) and have never been worried about it. For some reason, on my social feeds I keep seeing stories about people going in to get their check and coming out with stage 3 cancer. The first one I saw was Stephen Garcia and now I've seen a few other "influencers" sharing their stories. Glad it's getting out and everyone should get checked, but damn, now i'm nervous AF. No warning signs that I can think of, no family history of it, should just be routine......but......what if.
Anyways, wish me luck. Have no idea what to expect.

If it makes you feel any better, I got an endoscopy (camera goes in the other end) a year and a half ago. I think I was sedated for all of about 15 minutes, and could have driven home after. I didn't have all the messy prep work you've got though, I'd be more afraid of that.

42 y/o here and got my first one a couple weeks ago. Family history of benign polyps so wanted to get ahead of anything just in case. Worst part was the prep and that wasn't terrible. They put me under for probably 15 minutes and man that was some good sleep lol. Luckily no issues and I don't need to go back for 10 years. Definite weight lifted with the all clear though.

I had pho for dinner afterward.
Eggs and hash browns for breakfast the next morning.
Pasta for lunch.
Just giving some advice people might not think about before they wake up from the procedure.

Yea I thought about food afterwards. Gonna stick to something easy to not wreck an empty stomach. Probably just eggs and diced ham.

To add to the good result average, I had mine last year and was crystal clear. Amazing feeling waking up too. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I had Chick-Fil-A right after and had no problems whatsoever.

I had my first one a little over a month ago. I wanted to get as much protein as I could on the prep day so I drank bone broth and clear protein powder shakes. I started shitting well before taking the solution they prescribed me.
Managed to get down 150 grams of protein that day.

Did mine 2 weeks ago. I just stayed on toilet once I started and played on phone (Tigerdroppings) till I felt I was done then showered.
Did same thing for 2nd round next morning.
Found 1 polyup but results came back good and don’t need another for 7 years.
Having a bidet was very useful throughout the prep portion of colonoscopy!

Wipes at a minimum. Definitely not paper.
I bought some clear Gatorade to help with the prep and it ended up being close to the sickly sweet cherry flavor of the prep.
The procedure was no big deal. I remember drifting into a level of consciousness where I heard the doc talking to a nurse about a restaurant they wanted to try.

I'm 37 and have had three now.
Congrats on the best nap of your life.
I'll be honest, I'd volunteer to have one every year if it meant avoiding advanced stage colon cancer.

I am a veteran of 5 colonoscopies. The prep day is just a horrible day. Being so hungry, I usually head straight to a restaurant ASAP after the deed is done.

I've never had one but I'm at the age now where I need to. I will likely schedule myself for one probably by the end of the year. For the vets in here that have done it can you give a quick rundown on the whole process? Like I know they put you to sleep and stick a camera up your butt but all the responses typically seem to lament the "prep phase" which I don't know anything about. Can someone give a quick little primer so I'll know what's in store when the time comes?

The two worst parts of the whole process is having to fast, and the prep. If you can schedule it for early in the morning that might help. Mine wasn't until around lunchtime on a Friday, so I had to drink clear fluids all day Thursday and then no food at all on Friday so I was pretty hungry. For the prep, I did the pills. Had to take 12 large pills, within 1-2 minutes of each other with a big sip of water for each which bloated me up on Thursday evening. Had to do the same again on Friday morning. Back and forth to the bathroom a few times but that wasn't terrible. Got to the facility, started IV, waited around for a bit then brought me to the back. Pushed the meds through the IV and I was sleeping within 5 seconds. My wife woke me up about 15-20 minutes later when I was already back in the room. No discomfort after or anything. Released and went grab lunch. No problems at all, pretty straightforward process. This was my first time and didn't know what to expect either.

Ugh I hate fasting. I always feel so weak like I'm going to pass out. What kind of meds do they give in the IV?

I picked up a giant sub from Jersey Mike's on the way home. Ate half in the car.
So good.

You'll be fine. They'll tell you you have a polyp or two, and then they'll take them and you'll be fine. If you end up with cancer, realize and understand how powerful fenben+ivermectin has been proving lately. Like... it is getting world-wide studies, now. Proving its efficacy.

Whatever they used for the anesthesia to put me under. I fell asleep before I could ask what it was.

I think it was Propofol, Michael Jackson’s sleep medication.
No one has mentioned that they shave you.
