Anyone who wrestled before they imposed limits used to not eat anything for days on end while also dehydrating on purpose.
Was it healthy? Who gave a shite, it was a means to an end. You'll be fine, just stop eating and don't worry about it.

Can anyone explain how these fasts don’t kill your metabolism?
When your insulin drops and stays low your body switches fuel sources. You go from running on food to running on body fat. Since your “tank” is full of fuel your metabolism doesn’t fall off.

Wrong. When your calories drop and stay low you burn fat. You go from running on food to running on food and body fat

I think you mistook what I was saying. It’s hard to run on food and body fat when you don’t have any food, which is the definition of fasting. The question is why your metabolism doesn’t tank like it does on a calorie restrictive diet. It had nothing to do with burning or not burning fat while in calorie deficit. Obviously you burn fat when calories drop to nothing, anyone argue differently is wrong.

I couldn't fast 7 days if I had an 8ball of meth. Why tf would you wanna do that ?

yeah, I dont see how someone has the willpower to not eat for 7 days but can't manage to track calories and eat at a 500-1000 calorie deficit for months

7 days seems pretty extreme. I’ve been fasting two days a week (non-consecutively) because I need to lose weight and I don’t want to calorie restrict on a daily basis. I also thinks it’s the easiest way for adherence, nothing is forbidden and I can pick which two days I’m going to skip so it’s easy to work it around holidays and special occasions.
Everything I’ve read also indicates it preserves muscle mass, it doesn’t negatively affect metabolism, and it improves insulin resistance for metabolic issues. For me it seems to be the best weight management plan.

I don’t think I know how many calories I eat +/- 500-1k calories on a daily basis, much less try to hit a certain target.

8 days
The thing that people who've never done a fast don't get - and I didn't either until my first time - is that after about the 3rd day it gets easier. In part I think that's because eating is such a habit. It's weird that it kinda takes an effort to break the fast and you have to resume eating in small steps not just dive right back into a big/heavy meal.
People fast for different reasons. For me it's never been about losing weight since I don't need to, but more of a detox cleanse. It's also an exercise in exerting my discipline over my body. It's odd too after a few days what still comes out when you have a bowel movement.

There are other benefits from true fasting that you don’t get from prolonged below-maintenance calorie intake. Autophagy, for example.

Dehydration is not good for us?

I understand that. 35,000 kcal is plenty to sustain you, but I asked how is it healthy?
Depends on the fat stores. Fasting is not only just not unhealthy but can be extremely beneficial (see other threads re BHB upregulation, autophagy, etc etc ). But yeah I think any potential benefits of a prolonged (over 48hr) fast for proper-weight (low body fat ( folks are outweighed by the fact that your body will start to break downs muscle tissue once glycogen and fat are depleted.
But if you're carrying around excess body fat (I'm thin but still have some stores), then there's no harm, as long as you supplement electrolytes.

48 hours. Was thinking about doing another soon as well before the holiday food starts

Evolutionarily we developed for fasts of longer than 7 days as food was not always available. This is why your body is able to transition to ketosis so easily as an alternate energy source. Ketosis has many health benefits and is anti inflammatory; it’s the opposite of diabetes. Read something by Jason Fung MD.

What does this do to your bowel movements? Does it impact your regularity when you come off the fast?
I shite every morning shortly after coffee. Every. Day. If I don’t, I call in sick for work and wait for death.

Please be careful. This is very effective, but also dangerous. Keep water close just in case.
