Ha yeah, I'm the same. My buddy is a cheap sob though. I'm just impressed the outsoles haven't disintegrated yet.

Just did my first run in my React Infinity's. Was on pretty tired legs, so wasn’t feeling at my best but they were good over all. Mild rocker, didn’t notice it too much. Felt slightly softer vs the Epic React likely due to increased foam and stack. Slight heal slip on my right, but no irritation or blisters just need to tie down tighter. Feel like they’ll be a solid workhorse shoe for me.

Welp, got another pair on the way. Reebok Floatride Energy 1 for $55. Need more storage for my shoe addiction. Reebok has the Run Fast for $77 shipped too which was tempting.

Picked up the Asics Dynaflyte 3 on sale for 53. Needed to replace both Reeboks that you just mentioned and want to try something different. I usually stay away from Asics as they tend to be overbuilt and heavy as a pair of combat boots; clodhoppers if you will.

Apparently Asics has been trying to rebrand with flytefoam, moving away from the heavy GEL nonsense that no one has taken seriously for running since it's inception. Right at 9 ounces for a 9.

When I retire the Reeboks and the Boston 8s, I plan on my rotation looking like: Speed Elite, Dynaflyte, Kinvara.

I need to grab another pair of the Reebok Floatrides. I’ve been really enjoying them recently.

The Forever Floatride is a great shoe. You can get the first one for 50 bucks right now. I didn't care for that upper though and the second version isn't on sale yet.

8 miles on the React Infinity today, not sure they’re gonna do it for me. I think the added react foam makes it feel more dead. I didn’t get the pop I’d get out of my Epic Reacts. Also did not notice the rocker at all. Now comparing a bunch of different shoes, kind of thinking Brooks Hyperion Tempo or NB 1080v10.

Okay, resident shoe geek here to report. Have tested three new pairs in the last two weeks. Obviously these are initial impressions...I know shoes really show their character as the miles add up.

1) Nike React Infinity Run: 22/30 stack, 8mm drop, mild stability, 9.6 oz.

Pros:
- Looks great
- Lots of cushion
- Flyknit Loft upper is a good material
- Durable - can see this shoe getting 500+ miles, easy.
- Comfy ride

Cons:
- Fit...heal slips, didn’t bother me personally (no irritation) but it’s there for sure. Tying tighter to prevent slip resulted in a numb foot halfway into an 8 mile run. Also, the medial rail is very present under the arch. Again, didn’t bug me, but can see where it’d be an issue for many.
- They’re pricey at $160, though I got these on sale for $119. Not awful for the mileage expected
- Hated the ride. It’s comfy, but just felt so dead. My standard for comparison is the Epic React FK 2. The Infinity uses a different React foam formulation and has added foam vs the Epic. The result, in my opinion, is a mushier ride. They just felt dead compared to my Epics. I also hardly noticed the rocker.

Consensus: sending these back.

ETA: also not sure the 9.6oz weight is right. I pulled the numbers from other review sites. These shoes ran like they were 10+ oz. Felt heavy underfoot.

2) Reebok Forever Floatride Energy 1.0: 19/29 stack, 10mm drop, neutral, 9.0 oz.

Pros:
- Pretty good looking (who dat!)
- PRICE - retail is $100, I got these for $55. These were a bargain at full retail. For $55 is a no brainer.
- Very roomy toe box
- Durable - can see this shoe getting 500+ miles, easy.
- Smooth ride - midsole foam is pretty much a condensed Adidas boost, great stuff.

Cons:
- (Personal gripe) Upper is a bit roomy overall for me. This is a pro for most, but I have a narrow to medium width foot.
- Not quite as “springy” vs my Epic Reacts
- Tongue is not gusseted so it moves around.

Consensus: going into daily rotation.

3) Brooks Hyperion Tempo: 20/28 stack, 8mm drop, neutral, 7.3oz

Pros:
- These look badass, props to Brooks
- Incredibly lightweight and minimal
- As the name suggests, they feel great uptempo. Very responsive nitrogen infused midsole similar to Hyperburst (per other reviews, I have 0 experience with Skechers)
- Comfortable fit. Wide (for me) toe box, slightly narrow mid foot and heel (not as narrow as Nike). Think these will be perfect for most people.
- Seem like they’ll be durable, lots of rubber underfoot. Impressive they kept it so light.

Cons:
- Price...these are $150. I exchanged my React Infinities for them, so I’m down net $30. Probably can wait for these to go on sale.
- Pretty firm, especially in the heel - so not great if you get lazy and heel strike.
- The laces are this elastic material and suck. Really have to cinch them down to get a good fit.

Consensus: will be staying in the lineup as an occasional trainer. Thinking they’ll soften up with more miles making them better at 8 to 9 min/mile paces. Otherwise will be more for tempo days and maybe races. Seems like it’ll be a good shoe, especially for Brooks. Hats off to them.

How do these compare to the Adidas Boston 8? I've been using the Boston 8 exclusively for a little over a month now, but I only run 2.25 miles daily. I've been seeing people talking about these Reebok's everywhere, including here, so now I'm intrigued.

ETA: Also, nice reviews!

Haven’t run in any Adidas shoe. I have Ultraboosts for casual wear and that’s it. I’d imagine it’s similar, though the Boston is probably a tad lighter and made more for uptempo training and racing. The Reebok’s are very much a mileage mule. Reebok did also have the Run Fast on sale, however that features a pebax midsole (think Nike ZoomX). I’d think the Run Fast is more similar to the Boston 8 in intended purpose.

Have you run in the Zoom Fly? If so, would you compare the Hyperion Turbo to that shoe?

Yep. I have a pair of Zoom Fly SP and a pair of Zoom Fly FK (current race shoe).

As of right now, with only 4 miles on the Brooks and 40 miles on the ZFFK, I prefer the ZFFK. I like React foam and the rocker geometry of the ZFFK. I find React is at its best when it’s firmer like in the Epic and the ZF. The Brooks are much more stable and nearly 2 oz lighter though. Time will tell, need to log more miles in the Brooks.

ETA: I’ve not run in it, but I think the Brooks is supposed to be most similar to the Skechers Razor 3.

Love the design of the Hyperion Tempo. Curious as to how they hold up. I'm looking to add a shoe for tempo workouts. (Currently use the Nike Air Zoom. Pegasus 36).

Yeah they look amazing. Brooks did really well with this one. I think they’ll hold up pretty well. The upper is thin, but it doesn’t seem fragile and there is a ton of rubber underfoot. I’d say it can go at least 350 miles.

Got a pair. They are actually pretty soft. Not React soft but soft.

Not as firm, better rebound, roomier upper and not much heavier. Better shoe overall but that tongue will rub you a little if you go low socks.

Thanks. I may try them when a local store has them in stock. Called Fleet Feet Saturday and nobody has a pair in my size. Ended up getting a pair of Rincon's. Going to try them out tomorrow and see how I like them.
