I ran post-rain storm on Friday in the Flyknits. They certainly don’t repel any water. But I still like them more every time I run in them.

Bought a pair of Skechers Speed Elites and Nike Wild Horses at the local run shop today. We'll see how they shake out. Even if they don't work, it's still nice to support the shop that does so much for the local running community.

Seeing that reviews for the Saucony Endorphin Pro are starting to roll in, by most accounts it’s the real deal. Saying it’s just as good, maybe better (depending on what you like in a shoe) than the Next%...not sure how it compares with the AlphaFly though.

I'm looking forward to those.

Anyone else disappointed in Adidas lately? I used to love them, but literally every other shoe brand has passed them up in design and function within the last year. Lightstrike isn't fooling anyone.

All their new shoes go one sale within a month of being out. I guess they're content with a full transition into an athleasure brand.

Seems like Hoka, Adidas, and Brooks are just remaking the same shoes. You can't just throw a carbon plate in your tired old racing flat and call it revolutionary.

Meanwhile, Skechers, Nike, and Saucony seem to be taking shite to the next level IMO.

Asics Metaracer has been unveiled and reviewed by a couple of sites. Interesting shoe as it’s more akin to the Skechers Speed Elite with low stack and carbon winglet plate vs high stack and full length plate. Asics touts it as a marathon capable shoe despite something like 15mm stack in the forefoot. It sure looks good.

Man, not a lot of good deals out there right now for running shoes. I figured with the economy shitting the bed, companies would be trying to move product (especially least season's) by any means necessary. I usually find all my shoes that aren't racing "flats" for 60 or less. Bummer.

Depends on what you’re looking for. Top end racing shoes are still expensive, but I’ve seen some decent deals on trainers - nothing for $60 cheap, but plenty of new models discounted. Saw React Infinity Run for $119 and I got Ultraboost 20’s for under $100 which is insane (not using for running though).

Seems runningwarehouse and buying direct from manufacturer have the best deals. I’d imagine more deals will pop up though.

On second thought/look, guess most of the big sales ended last week...you’re right, its pretty slim pickings lol.

You can still get the 4% FK on Nike's website for $186. ZF3 can be had for less than $100.

Burt

did you get the wild horse 6. let me know what you think. I've ran in the 3,4 and 5. the 5 was a big improvement over the 3 and 4 so wondering how the overhaul on the 6 will turn out..

I got the 5 on "sale" at the local shop when picking up the Speed Elite Hyper. Mostly I just liked the way they looked and plan on wearing them about town and what not. I don't trail run plus they are massive. Never really got why the typical (read non technical) trail shoe has to be such a clunky, heavy, hard assed sole callback from the 1980s.

Lots more people are running right now, and they need shoes.

So the Speed Elite Hyper boils down to what I've thought about the Skechers brand over the last 1.5 years. It's a missed opportunity.

This shoe was launched a year late and marketed poorly. Honestly, there is no real market for it now that every company has a shoe with a plate (Sketchers was going to be the 2nd before delays FWIW). Reviewers have been comparing it favorably as a Next% alternative. This shoe is not that. Not. Even. Close.

This shoe is a direct competitor with the Zoom Fly IMO, and is a better shoe than the Zoom Fly in every way except lack of half sizes. Hyperburst is a better midsole than the soggy feeling React, and the upper on the SEH disappears on the foot which is one of the reasons it's barely over 6oz.

This is not a very stable shoe and the carbon plate is pretty distracting at first but once you get going, it has a really good underfoot feeling. Your stride feels kind of effortless in this shoe. I don't know if this is good or not but I felt like I was going faster than I was wearing it; it feels fast but it isn't fast.

This is not a marathon shoe. I'm not really sure I'd race a half in it but I'd use it for long tempos for sure. I think you could race in it, but why? Especially since there are better racing options on the market in the SEH's own brand series.

The SEH will transition into my second run shoe and primary workout shoe. I might do a 5k in it but I'm not going to use it in any serious racing manner.

When Nike gets rid of the ZF, buy this instead; it's a way better shoe.

It is a bit of an odd offering from Skechers, like you said...not sure where it slots in. I’ve seen more reviewers go for the Skechers Horizon Vanish over the SEH.

Regarding the Zoom Fly/Nike in general...not sure specifics but supposedly the new Peg Turbo will be a plated shoe. Also they are going to continue to make the Next% alongside the AlphaFly. There are also two sub models of the AlphaFly featuring the air pods. Sounds like Nike is about to have an even wider portfolio.

Also, I just broke down and bought some React Infinity’s...damn quarantine.

Just got a pair of Hoka Clifton 6s. Pumped. They feel super cushioned. Excited to try them out with my recovery.

Vanish has gotten good reviews and is only 90 bucks. I’ll be getting it for local 5k’s/10k’s

As long as they fit your foot, you should enjoy the Clifton 6. They are good everyday/recovery trainer. They're durable too - my running buddy has 1,000 miles on his. I've got 250 on mine and they look great.

Jesus, 1,000 miles is inane. Sometimes wish I had that kind of restraint. I put about 250/300 on my shoes and I’m ready for something new.
