Supplements for lifting

I lift 5-6 days a week. Cardio 2-3 times a week. Currently I take creatine and HMB. Is there anything else I should be stacking? BCAAs?

I take quite a few supplements.
Are they necessary? Nah.
Do they make me feel better mentally and physically? I think so.
Here are some of them:
- fish oil
- NMN
- spermidine
- L-Carnitine
- resveratrol
- plasmalogen
- vitamin D
- choline
- collagen
I could write an essay on the benefits of each one, but you should do your own research and decide for yourself.
Happy to answer any specific questions.

Drop the HMB it is a waste. You can take EAA’s as BCAA’s are a waste and converted to sugar by your body.
Creatine is good. I’d also add a high quality Whey isolate. You could add other stuff like fish oil, a multi, turmeric, and vit D but these are just supplements you should be getting all that from good Whole Foods. No supplement will ever replace actual nutritious food.

How does your body convert and amino acid to glucose?

spermidine
My girlfriend takes that any which way she can get it!

Funny enough, it was first discovered in human sperm, but it's also in virtually every vegetable, cheese, and other sources.

no
your diet will give you all the AA you need
creatine i think is a no brainer for anyone lifting, or exercising in general.
on top of that for performance pre-workout i think caffeine, tyrosine, and citrulline are my go to
general supps would be anything for joint support. tumeric, fish oil, glucosamine, collagen.

What are the benefits of creatine? Is it mostly for building muscle?
Posted on 5/25/22 at 2:08 pm to TheIndulger
im sure someone here can write a more elegant summary but in general it is said to promote muscle growth indirectly by affecting energy and recovery of muscle cells.
its used in ATP generation, the basic energy component at a cellular level. so more energy to have quality time under tension for muscle cells which is more stimulation for growth.
its also believed to increase insulin growth factors which would help with repair.
there other proposed benefits. no real documented side effects. fairly cheap and easy to consume. Absolutely necessary, of course not.

“Need” is a subjective word.
The aminos I take are 10:1:1

I’ve heard of creatine having lots of benefits. Was wondering if it’s good if I lift but want to stay lean and not bulky.

it will cause your cells to retain more water, so they may appear fuller. im not sure how much of a real visual effect this has and could vary from person to person.
i think the type of training you do would have way more influence on that aspect of your goal. I dont think any supplement is an absolute necessity and are just nice little small bonuses. Creatine being up there as one of the better in that category of small boosters to training. there alot of supplements out there that are just junk and pointless.

I take ZMA because most of us in the western world are deficient in zinc and magnesium; especially those of us who train.
I also take 5,000iu a day of vitamin D3 because I'm a pastey frick who sits in an office all day.

Yes, creatine is one of the best supps to increase strength and high-intensity exercise. However, I'm really careful about it. I used to take it regularly, 4-5 grams daily for about 2 years. I'm not sure if it was the reason, but I started to suffer from arrhythmia. So, I stopped taking it.

I add 10g creatine to my whey protein powder daily.
After I learned about what good protein powder is compared to not good protein powder, I also learned the my quality protein powder already contains EAAs, BCAAs, and other things.
I also take fish oil.
I have cut all other supplements. I went crazy for a while. I decided to ditch most everything and see how I feel. I actually feel better. Lol

8 hrs of sleep a night and eat right, nothing else is needed. So simple, its hard.

I take GNC creatine HCL and Alfa Whey Protein. I’ve put on a lot of mass the past 4 months. I’ve always been able to bull up quickly but as I was approaching 40, I hit a stall. Now my problem is that I can’t shed some of his belly fat. But I’m taking it up as that I’m 40
