Knees are aching after running. Figured could be worth the investment if they help.

When is the last time you bought shoes? When my knees ache, it's a sign it's time for new shoes.

Just got a new pair from fleet feet a couple months ago

Did you get a sole that matches your foot?
Its amazing how much my knee hurts when the shoe doesn't fit perfectly

Go see a shoe specialist like Varsity. Have them measure your foot size, arch length and arch height. You may need some proper fitting insoles. This sounds excessive, but if you’re committed to running you’re going to want to invest in foot care. Depending on how much you run, you should get a new pair of running shoes every 6 months.

I've hurt knees while running on uneven surfaces.
Some sidewalks around me aren't too level and further I may step s little awkwardly causing some knee pain

Copper fit is great when I’m in the gym. Rebuilt knee at 25 and I swear by it.

I think that I have a small meniscus tear in my left knee from playing basketball a few months ago. It seems to slowly be getting better and does not have any lingering pain. It still 'catches' a little and I've been wearing a copper fit when exercising in case it helps with minor swelling or other benefits (also since I'm avoiding any NSAIDs at moment).
I really don't know how much benefit it's giving but the knee is definitely showing improvement.

quote:Are they open at the moment? Ive been on the same pair of running shoes for 8 or so months now. Have been running 30ish miles a week since January, and was getting back into shape for the 3-4 months before that at 10-15 miles a week. I’ve been getting mild shin splints if I go over 6-7 miles. I know TMI, but I got those shoes at Varsity that they fitted for me and its the best pair or running shoes ive ever owned. Well worth the price.

Edit: I called Varsity sports and they said you can come inside with a mask and if you dont have a mask, they will fit you outside.

I used a copper fit on my knee for soreness a few years ago and it actually did help but I’m positive that it was from the compression that it kept on my knee and not the copper at all.

I’ve been using a brand called rehband for a couple years and swear by them. Very common in CrossFit. But I love them and have no pain in the knees after workouts.

Coming from someone who worked at a specialty running store, their “gait analysis” deal is a bunch of horse shite, as is the running shoe industry in general. I’ll give you a 3 minute guide to their entire business model:
1. Set your iPhone up against a wall, start recording, and walk away from it. If you ankles roll inward when you walk, order shoes that offer stability. If you pronate bad enough to warrant stability it’ll be obvious
2. If not, order shoes that don’t offer stability.
3. Pick literally any reputable brand off of RunnersWorld’s website and hit the road
That’s it. You DO NOT need to replace shoes every 6 months or 300 miles. That’s absolutely ridiculous and I outweigh most competitive runners by 70+ pounds and never needed to replace more than every year or so.
