fact that you can easily eat in a caloric surplus with eggs and steak

And you aren’t going to become an obese diabetic unhealthy slob with no energy eating in a caloric surplus with steak and eggs like you will with pop tarts, lucky charms, and tv dinners. It’s not the same.

It's all the same, Ron. Calories are calories.

This is why the most elite athletes in the world just get their protein from 3-4 servings of pro series muscle milk throughout the day, and top off their carbs and fats with bowls of lucky charms and milk.

Look at the diet videos of any pro bodybuilder or powerlifter. They all obviously know the science, and they don't bother themselves with eating chicken and rice and fish and lean meats and healthy fats. They just eat what is easy and tastes yummy. I mean.....right?

I've edited my plan for OP. Just do three servings of muscle milk pro series, 3 servings of skittles for carbs, and 3 servings of pork rinds drizzled with melted butter for fat, every day.

That's 175 g protein, 219 g carbs, 69 g fats, and 2200 calories.

You'll lose weight and feel great.

250g of protein EVERY day is kinda hard on the stomach. Dunno how much you currently weigh but usually 1g - 1.2g of protein per lb of current weight is enough to gradually bulk with muscle.

So let's say you currently weigh 200lbs, you probably don't need more than 200-220g of protein and that's a shite ton, daily.
Canned tuna is probably the easiest way, if you like tuna. Usually 2 of those is ~50g protein and not too heavy on the stomach. I find I get sick quickly of chicken but 3-4cans of tuna every day or 2 is doable + other meals.

I get a big protein boost from ground beef. Sometimes I swap out for ground bison and today I'm doing ground elk.

There are a number of different ways to season/eat ground beef to offer some variety.

I have a few different dishes in my regular rotation - taco flavored, ground beef with marinara, Chinese style, Cuban picadillo, Indian kheema (Indian style) with peas...I'm thinking about adding a middle Eastern and/or Mediterranean style one into the rotation but haven't found a reliable recipe yet.

What do you typically eat?

I'm 183 and eat:

Morning: egg white burrito (22)
Lunch: lean protein (pork loin/chicken breast) (40)
Afternoon: Oikos yogurt (15)
Evening: lean protein (40)

Always looking for ideas to get the necessary protein while eating as clean as possible. I also like to throw in a scoop of protein in plain oatmeal with milk sometimes.

if you are not lifting...other than the thermic effect from the protein...yea it is the same.

your body doesnt say....oh i have no reason for the excess calories other than storage of fat but oh since these calories are fat...im not going to store it as fat

here is a fact...dietary fat is the easiest of all the macros to store as bodyfat. that is a fact, look it up.

dont take this as me saying you should eat pop tarts, tv dinners etc to be healthy. yall keep inferring that from what im writing. im alos not saying that the insulin repsonse has no effect on fat storage when in a caloric surplus, as it does. much less so in a caloric deficit.

im simply saying in a caloric surplus...once dietary induced thermogensis from the protein is accounted for...if you are not lifting...the body is going to store the excess calories as body fat. it has no use for the calories other wise. if you are lifitng, its going to use what it needs to recover aka build muscle, then it will fill up its glycogen stores then it will store the rest as body fat

now im not saying drinking 4 protein shakes and eating the rest of calories in pop tarts is optimal. your health markers are prolly not going to look the best and you are not gonna have much energy. but if calories are the same and you take into account DET then you will lose the same amount of bodyfat as someone that is eating nothing but chicken and rice. normal person would end up eating way more calories but if calories are tracked extremely close...it would be the same

go read about the guy who did the Twinkie diet and others who have done similar things.

In my experience, high fat meats is self regulating. Its just very hard to overeat in the same way you can with carb rich food. If I stuff myself with steak/eggs in the morning, I would not want to eat the rest of the day. I could house a dozen krispy kreme donuts and be hungry again in 30 minutes

this has been proven out in studies too....on average i believe the study said those that are on low carb self regulate and lower overall caloric intake by about 15% without tracking calories

and for the record...my personal preferred diet approach is a little higher fat, high protein and low carb. thats my personal approach as its my preferred way to diet. I have gone through times where is did lots of rice and lots of chicken, i can do that but if i stray any from rice or potatoes as carb sources....my stomach goes crazy.

i think people take what i am saying as me being anti low carb, or anti clean eating or anything like that when thats not what i am saying, simply saying caloric intake is what matters most when it comes to body fat loss. then its protein...everything else doesnt matter too much until you get to around 12%. timing, rest of the macro breakdown, the micro break down etc...they dont matter a ton until that point. do they matter...yea but not enough to obsess over. certainly not enough to label foods as good or bad. timing doesnt matter enough to obsess over either until then.

Average Joe spends so much time worried about technical details. If you're eating healthy and gaining weight, cut back on the fats. Butter, oil, pb etc.
Who is seriously claiming 2 jars of PB a week is "healthy"

Right now you guys are burning more calories quibbling over the margins. If you're seriously just eating veggies and still gaining weight consider switching to a doctor specializing in horses & cows.
