Be careful with anabolics, baws. Never forget to train for health above all.

Rich Piana said it best: “Whether you’re 300 pounds of fat or 300 pounds of muscle, your heart doesn’t know the difference.”

Exactly, a lot of these guys don’t downsize. He was 46 years old, it’s time to start thinking about life after bodybuilding.

Listening to a few bodybuilding podcasts you can tell all this death is worrying to them. I doubt it will stop many pros from going all out though.

What’s crazy is, he just won an Olympia 3 years ago. He’s the oldest champion ever. Dethroned Phil Heath after 7 straight titles.

While I agree with everything you said, are we sure it wasn't rec drugs cause he has a lot of legal problems with the rap accusations and been rumors he has been bad off.

I don’t have any doubt that you’re right.

The bodybuilding lifestyle in general: 20+ years of training, anabolics, diuretics, vitamin deficiencies, extreme calorie surplus, extreme calorie deficit, dehydration, walking around with that much mass, plus recreational drug use is a disaster waiting to happen. These guys are not on TRT with a little bit of tren; they’re walking science experiments.

Similar to NFL players with head injuries, I think these guys fully accept the risks in exchange for becoming a champion.

How much is enough, then? What's the #GAINZ safety cutoff point?

Like a maximum weight (shredded or flabby) one can attain before long term heart health is affected? That would be nice to know.

“Hey bro, be careful, you’re getting close to 230. Don’t want to have a heart attack in your 40s!”

That also depends on height and bone structure

i lost an arguement with the docs at barbell medicine argueing that 300lbs is 300lbs and its still really hard ont he body. they linked me to a bunch of studies showing the opposite but those studies were on natural athletes.

my personal opinion is you want to build as much muscle as possible when younger but honestly believe, anabolics or no anabolics, you should never be above a 32 BMI, no matter your BF%. no science behind it, i just think that is a good number.

also should always try and keep the BF% below 20, should not take diurettics

if you are not taking anabolics, should strive to get as large as possible and hold at 15% BF or lower. You will never build enough muscle to worry about.

Some folks have tried to put together calculators for how much maximum muscle you can carry around at certain body weight/body fat%. Like with everything, the conclusions vary quite a bit.

There’s been an alarming amount of early deaths in the bodybuilding world over the last year and a half. It’s not totally surprising given the risks but the death have seemed to ramp up lately.

yea fat free max muscle calcs

Martin has a pretty good formula in his book.

in general a natural trainee has absolutely nothing to worry about especially if they stay below 15% BF. Cant build enough muscle. and the amount you can is healthy as frick.

its when you use massive amounts of anabolics and get huge and have a bmi in the morbid obese catagory it becomes a big deal.

FTR...pretty sure after further research Shawns death was AAS related. So many are in denial and blaming the vax but that doesnt have shite to do with it.

Dante Trudal has been hammering this lately.
