A new trend on Social Media. I am all about it. No one can convince me we should be consuming that stuff in any amounts. It resembles something you'd put in your car.

I am just now on board with this trend but I am finding more and more I am looking at labels for this stuff.

Anyone have any good products they like? I love Primal Kitchen

Maybe it's just me, but I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

He means the trend of products eliminating bad oils like vegetable, canola, and other cheap oils from foods.

I made the switch several years ago, but we only use avocado (searing/baking), lard (frying), and ghee (sautéing) these days.

I've tried a lot of the pre-packaged salad dressings and whatnot with avocado oil and they all have this weird flavor to me, so I just make my own most of the time.

Do you like the seed oil or dislike the seed oil?

I agree. Even Primal is kind of off tasting but I like it enough. What is your go to homemade dressing?

I have only just learned many Olive Oil are blended with Seed Oils. So you have to watch that if you are substituting Olive Oil for seed oils.

Unfortunately, I like it but think it is super unhealthy.

just basic vinaigrette most of the time

2 parts oil
1 part vinegar
shallots
salt/pepper

you can add whatever you want from there

I also add xanthan gum to keep it from separating and for consistency if I'm making a big batch for the week.

Is this just regular white vinegar?

well that depends on what type you are making

it can be any type of acid, really

but most of the time I'm using balsamic or lemon juice

What do yall use for deep frying? I use olive oil for just about everything but once or twice a year when I feel like frying fish I go out and buy vegetable oil. Would like to find something healthier so I can justify doing it more often

I am not up to snuff on research about seed oils but I generally stick with Avocado oil, olive oil, grassfed butter, or ghee. I doubt the occasional seed oil is really going to hurt you but with all the controversy, seems best to mostly avoid for now.

Nothing occasional is bad (typically). However, the stuff is in everything. It is so hard to have it occasionally.

Nut milk is next. If God wanted us to drink milk from nuts he’d have given them nipples.

Mine is:

40% olive oil
40% avocado oil
20% lemon juice
garlic
salt
black pepper
cayenne pepper
dash of Tony's

The best thing is how shelf stable it is. I had a bottle of it in my office pre-quarantine and forgot about it. We just went back to work a few weeks ago and I used it on a salad.

Man is this ever true. Soybean oil accounts for like 8% of all American calories now. That's up from less than 1% 50 years ago. The shite is eating people's bodies from the inside out.

The entire latter 1/3 of The Big Fat Surprise is dedicated to this topic. It talks about how restaurant kitchens can no longer actually clean surfaces because the shite is so...sticky. Also, some stories of basically spontaneous combustion of workers' uniforms coated in the shite.

And to think, Mazola still has the AHA's little heart sticker of approval on it.

I just went and looked at all the sauces in my fridge and trashed all of them bc they all started with soybean oil. I was highly disappointed to learn Chik Fil A sauce has it.

Yep. Once you start reading ingredient labels, you realize how much they’re putting that stuff in our foods. You have search pretty hard to find foods without them.

Be careful with the EVOO or avocado oil you are buying. A lot of them are already rancid and not 100% as advertised. For avocado, Marianne's is the one I see across the board as a real 100% avocado.
