Rubber floor tiles for home gym

I bought rubber floor tiles to put over my concrete floor in my garage gym. The tiles are not the puzzle piece variety that fit into each other, they are simply square tiles. My plan was to lay them all across the floor and cut strips to fill in any awkward areas or extra space that the tiles can’t get to as they are. But do I need to glue these down with an adhesive? They are about 3’8” thick and heavy, so I thought they would be fine. But I’m also going to be dropping weights on them and parking my car on the floor

I wouldn’t use adhesive. You may need to move them at some point. I would test them out and see what happens, but you’ll probably be fine. If the mats are wall to wall, then they shouldn’t slide.

I saw some nice thick rubber mats at Tractor Supply. If yours are like those I wouldn’t use an adhesive. They should be heavy enough to not slide “much”.

Yep. I use the 3/4" 4' x 6' mats. They are heavy and I drop weights with no fear.

I use the tractor supply mats as well. They work great.

I have the tractor supply mats. They work great, but they will still move over time if you are dropping weights. Have to tape the seams to make sure they stay in place long term. The movement isn't much, but after a few weeks, you'll probably see a gap between mats and at 100 lbs a piece, it's not always fun to re-arrange.

Just put some gorilla tape where the mats connect to each other

I only use 2 mats and, believe it or not, I drag them around the garage and move them as I lift. It's a pain, but it keeps the wife and kids happy so they can keep stuff in the garage, too.

I like many others use horse stall mats in my garage. They are heavy enough you don’t need anything to keep them in place.
