I did the Annie Wod on Thursday afternoon, except did GHd sit-ups with it. So 150 in all.

My urine hasn’t turned dark yet, and I’ve been properly hydrated but I’m in some pretty bad pain. I can’t stand up straight and my stomach is swollen.

Anyway, I don’t believe my enzyme levels would test positive for rhabdo at this point but is there anything I can be doing to try and prevent this from coming on? Or just keep hydrating?

Sounds like you need to go to the ER

Yea I just think I’ll be told I’m fine bc the enzymes are there, YET. I believe it takes a few days for the kidneys to start freaking out but that’s kinda why I’m here asking too.

Go to the doctor.

Drink a shitload of water and something to keep electrolyte balance.

Stop doing things to maybe give yourself rhabdo.

Sounds like a hernia. Squat on the ground and feel around.

ETA: I agree with Lester. It was my first thought.

I appreciate it. I don’t think it’s a hernia although I can’t 100% rule that out yet. The whole stomach wall is too sore to poke around on and still swollen. I’m been hydrating like a mug and can tell I’m retaining fluid there.

I think it’s gonna end up being extreme muscle fatigue.

It’s prob just body shock cause you prob do not work that area out much. That’s a pretty serious movement to do that much lol. I know you are an in shape baw but still

I got out of CrossFit for this very reason.

Although I completely believe in that STYLE of training, and the big power movements; the programming has gotten fricking ridiculous. They’re just programming different movements for the sake of entertainment at this point and there’s starting to be a ton of injuries.

I love and believe completely in the type of training but bad programming is killing the movement.

Yea no doubt it was more than I was ready for. 75 GHd’s would be normal for me to do every other week, along with t2b and other core exercises.

I seriously doubt I’ll ever try this wod again with GHd

how often do you do GHD sit ups

tons of people get Rhabdo when they just balls in on an exercise of activity they have never had an real practice doing.

I do them regularly but not to that extent. This was probably double the volume I would do on a good day.

I had an issue w my left calf. I have some type of issue w my heel on that side. It is terribly painful.

I did that 1000 step up WOD. All I can figure is I landed w a plantar flexed left ankle to keep my left heel from landing first. This created 500 eccentric contractions in addition to the work. My left calf was swollen and extremely painful for about three days post. Basically could nit move it 24 hours post exercise.

I don’t know if I had rhabdo or not but something was happening

U are correct unfortunately. Anything good and/or popular tends to get screwed up by someone. I still believe in CF and do it 5 to 6 days per week. I took over our programming 4 months ago and I can attest to the challenges of getting your people more fit without hurting them or getting them bored. You have to really talk to people to find out how they feel. You have to program lighter days and lower volume. It's not just about ballz out every day.

Our owners are slowly backing our CF size and moving more to an Orange Theory style. So we basically are operating two gyms. It's working for now.

It depends on the gym: Bad gyms program badly.

I’ve done 100 GHD for time but I’ve never had issues with them, but I’ve done them for a while.

Way back when I was in the military, there was some inverted sit-up contraption at a gym near the Navy base that would wreck your shite; much more so than a GHD.

We started doing Comptrain (Ben Bergeron’s programming) about 2 months ago.
Before, our coach was just programming to make people quit, which was awful. We finally talked him into giving it up.

Anyways, the wod was Annie with a 200m run in between sets. I was feeling good and wanted to rx+ it. Shouldn’t have done that in hindsight.

Tomorrow will be day 4 and if I’m still in pain I’m gonna go get my CK levels checked. I think I feel a little better today but I’m definitely retaining more fluid around my abdominal area than before.

In my CrossFit days, GH situps were Rhabdo machines. So much so that people would actively avoid doing them.
