I am trying to get back into working out, and have recently lost a little over 100 pounds through various diets and supplements but now I know I need to start hitting the gym again.

My problem, is that I just lack to energy/motivation to get in there 4/5 days a week and complete a 2 hour workout with cardio. I am just looking for that extra boost of energy that will get me in there. What are your recs on weightless pre-workout?

TIA

Congrats on the weight loss.

I commute roughly an hour home from work and also struggle with getting energized for a workout. I drink the canned C4 drinks. The smaller ones of 150mg caffeine.

????

And caffeine and beta alenine aren't going to give you motivation. That comes from discipline

Yeah I know that its not going to motivate me but if I have that extra boost of energy I will want to get in the gym and make it a habit again

Just black coffee if I work out in the morning, nothing if I lift at night. As far as motivation, there’s plenty of days I just don’t want to, probably half of them. I tell myself just go do your main lifts and then if you still feel like shite, you can quit. 95% of the time I finish everything.

I'll give you some recommendations, but the main thing is stay away from shitty proprietary blends. If the label doesn't clearly show what the dosages are then it's probably shite. I've used each one of these and found the dosages to be efficacious and study backed.

I go with a cup of coffee before morning workouts and C4 Extreme if I'm lifting at lunch. I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine so I don't mess with any of the really high stim ones. Showing up is half the battle, though. If you feel like shite still show up and go through the motions. You don't always have to kill it in the gym but it helps to keep the habit of going and doing something.

I have caffeine sensitivities so I make my own. If it’s a day I’m feeling anxious, I don’t put as much caffeine. I like to be able to control what’s in it based on how I’m feeling that day. I buy sugar free flavorings and then add carbonated water to my blend because I have it on tap at my house.

I get your point but give me enough beta alenine and caffeine and I’ll run through a fricking wall and then have enough energy to rebuild the wall!

Yeah, I’m caffeine sensitive and sometimes can’t finish a cup of coffee without getting the jitters. I can’t imagine coffee and C4.

Cup of coffee in the morning.

Half a scoop of c4 at lunch if I lift then. Not taking them together.

I do C4 extreme 200mg.

Dont screw around at home. I would waste an hour or two sometimes at home. Just take your pre-work drink and roll out to the gym.

C4 200 mg caffeine
Bang 300 mg caffeine
Reign 300 mg caffeine

If you’re wanting pre supplements also, get preworkout powders. Most of those have 300-350mg caffeine.

When I take in large amounts of caffeine I’m not hitting cardio though. I’ll hit 150-170 bpm lifting but it always comes back down between sets.

Cut that down to 30-45 minutes and it wont seem so miserable. Who has the time or desire to spend 2 hrs in a gym?

I could easily spend 2 hours in the gym. I have to cut myself off around the 80-90 minute mark.

Huh? I hit 2 hours happily when I don’t have as much going on for work and almost always go 1.5 hrs. (I lift at lunch time)
