There was only one problem with the statement lsu777 made that was highlighted

quote:

Research shows that so long as a caloric deficit is achieved and protein is high enough to protect muscle, these two can be eaten by individual preference.

The thing is, research also shows that protein and fat are very satiating and will result in one to overeat what they "need" to equal someone eating protein mixed carb/fat. The protein/fat group will have to eat past satisfaction (body signaling) to equal the same number of calories with carbs mixed in - which is a much better example of how the real world works as it relates to hunger signaling and weight loss.

But I don't care enough to request a change or get into it.

I think positive discussion is good, and it keeps this thread bumped, since sticky's are proving difficult to get over here.

I think its a process for most people. the motivation to stay with it until it becomes a habit is weight loss/looking better, and as that happens the brain shifts to understanding the full picture, and why strong is better than skinny, and the goals shift a little in a better direction, and being patient with other people's process is important, because we're all working for better in the end.

No there is nothing wrong with what I said. What I said is a fact. I also stated in this thread mutiple times and will add to the OP that keto is more satisfying for many. But it's also very restrictive to many. Many don't like meat especially women. They tend to fall off on keto and on the end keto without caloric restriction doesn't teach them shite nor does it work.

If you have a problem with what I said take it up with Alan argon, Eric helms, Greg nuckoles, or Layne Norton. The facts are the facts.

Do I think weighing and measrui g everything is good for everyone? No for some it leads to a damn disorder. But it works.

God damn ketotards ruining the first day of my vacation.

I lost about 85 pounds a few years ago and I don't know if I could have done it without attempting to count calories on everything I ate.

It is because he is still stuck on the old caloric ways and the ad hominem attack is all that's left. At least he acknowledges that hormones play a huge role. Great advice for weightlifting though.

They play zero role in body comp above about 10% body fat. I'm sure you have you know more than the guys I mentioned above. Too bad you can't link a single study proving what you say, I can link dozens with many very recent.

That protein/fat is more satiating? You've posted those before yourself. Then take a look at the controversial study by Hall last year. Hall states there was no advantage, yet there was a 300 caloric difference. He downplays his own findings yet we found 300 caloric difference even though they fed them to perceived energy balance?

quote:

Despite slight positive energy balance during the chamber days, the overall negative energy balance amounted to ~300 kcal/d and was likely due to greater spontaneous physical activity on nonchamber days.

The word "likely" is another way of saying I have no idea why this shite is like this, but here is an answer I pulled out my behind.

Sorry misunderstood what you were saying. I 100% agree with yall protein and fat is more satisfying and more than likely peoe are less likely to over eat and it's much healthier without the insulin spikes. I was speaking of calories being 100% when it comes to weight loss in healthy individuals.

The ketotards comment was made in jest btw

I'm on month 3 of the slow carb diet. So far I have dropped from 20% BF to 15%. This is probably as low BF and I feel great. Next step is to focus on some muscle gain.

Quick update: I weighed right at 230 yesterday. My clothes feel different, but it’s only been two, maybe three weeks since I started this diet. I am eating really clean. Nothing but fresh meats and veggies. Protein intake is 270g+ daily. Carb inatke is flictuated and regulated, but most days it’s under 50g. My cardio is improving and I feel strong. I will post another weight update in a couple of weeks. I don’t want to look at the scale too often.

Long time lurker on TD. First time posting. Gotten lots of good info of this board and plenty of entertainment on the other boards. I was wondering what is the most accurate calculator to find my TDEE. There seems to be a wide range with using the ones I found online.
Thanks

Prolly just start with be *13.5. weigh yourself before and after, wait two weeks and weigh again. Adjust from there.

The tree calcs are all just a guess. Just a starting point just like above.

Ya that’s what I figured on those sites Just I would ask. What is 13.5?

Been following your program from the greyskull thread.(mass/hypertrpohy rotating lifts) got a few questions that I will post over on that thread.

accountability update: off the train on sunday, I knew that was happening beforehand, and it doesn't bother me too much mentally, its just one day. I missed the gym on saturday and have had a little trouble being motivated this week, I think I'm just tired, but I'm still going, though I dont think as hard as normal.

How is everyone's week so far?

Well, I got a pretty nice surpise today. Weighed at 222 today. Down from my original starting point of 240. The pain and agony is paying off.

Okay, finally coming over here to find the thread :)

Summer has been busy. I broke my hand & haven’t been able to play tennis. Diet/exercise motivation has been nonexistent. Thankfully, I’m maintaining, but I need to get my arse in gear. Are you still doing keto?
