Anyone have any good remedies without taking medication everyday?

Thanks!

Freeze an orange and roll your feet on it

It can often be caused by tight calves.
My daughter had it from volleyball and track.
Mom would rub her calves every night for an hour and it went away in about a week.

Mine acted up for a month until I went hiking last year. The inclines helped strengthen everything around it and it got better.

Now I get on an incline treadmill for 20 mins twice a week and it hasn't come back.

I got new Brooks tennis shoes and wore crocs as little as possible. Helped tremendously.

One of those braces you wear at night to keep your foot from drooping is what helped me get rid of it.

I think kettlebell swings helped cure mine. Or it was a coincidence that it disappeared shortly after I got my kettlebell. But, swings do help the posterior chain and I think that plays a role in plantar fasciitis.

Exercise your feet. There have been several threads and tons of opinions on here. Freeze a water bottle, surgery, inserts, special shoes, etc.

I have seen several articles and videos about it. I took a shot and started deadlifting barefoot and more athletic lifts standing up. I haven't had it in years. The article that convinced me showed the Indians in the Mexican Mtns that run almost a marathon a day with just a strip of leather on their feet.

You weren't born with padding on your feet and all the Dr's, etc. that prescribe cushioning are just making the muscles in your feet weaker. I see old guys at work that look like they are wearing platforms. I have also heard S&C guys say that modern trainers don't emphasize the feet enough. We don't walk or run hardly at all as a society, so training your feet should be a priority.

I've had success with this stretching device. It stretches your calf and sole. Stretching device

My man!

Modern footwear is killing us. Go get you a pair of Altra, Vivo, or Xero shoes. Jump rope, walk, and go to the gym in these shoes. Your feet are weak and you need to strength them, your ankles, and calves.

Get a pair good fitting pair of Birkenstock clogs, or sandals.
Wear them as much as you can. Guaranteed to improve if not cure your P.F.

By far the worst advice in this thread.

Orthopedist recommended the rolling a ball with your foot, as well stretching it out. But, your footwear is going to have to be improved.

Millions of people all over the planet have found relief wearing Birkenstock shoes. You have shared your criticism, now why not offer your solution?

Brooks Ghost
yes, I have these - they are helping a lot

Ironically I’m usually barefoot - I aggravated the muscle while barefoot

I was a dancer and know to stretch/exercise feet (bc of pointe shoes) but this bout of plantar fasciitis has been excruciating

I may try the Birkenstocks

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The Ghost is a neutral shoe, have you had your gait checked and what activities (running, walking, gym, etc) are you wearing them for? A birkesntock will lift the arch (very rigidly), your Ghost do not do that.

Powerstep and superfeet both make orthtotic inserts you can put right in your ghosts to have the same affect of a birketsock without the need of an additional shoe AND the ability to transition back to a neutral shoe once the PF subsides. BUT, before I tried an orthotic inset or specific shoe, I would try KT tape and tape the arch (check YouTube for videos on application) but it;s amazing how easily and cheaply this can often provide cheap, immediate and effective relief.

Ultimately, the best way to treat PF is not just focusing on relief but prevention.

New balance had a plantar fasciatis insole. Either that or you can have a chiropractor make you one. That is my go to when I get a flare up.

Jumped rope barefooted at the gym today and thought of this thread. Plantar fasciitis free for 5 years now.
