We are running 70s Big again this month. Day 11 legs like legs was like almost 2 hours: an hour for 14 sets of squats then 10x10 RDLs, curls, and farmers walk finishers. fricking brutal. My gym is in basement and bedroom on 3rd floor FML (and this old craftsman style house at the moment)

Finished WK 1 Day 3 of Pool SZN 1

This is second time through program, I know it is program for June but getting head start as have to take a little time of in June...

Note's: I increased my squats & deads 15lbs. from 1st go around & my bench 10lbs. I attribute this to not having a real accurate Max figured out and little bit of familiarity with program. Maybe a bit stronger, I dunno...

Y'all good long weekend, cheers!

Hypertrophy W4D4

This one is finished! I honored the rests today as I wanted to make sure I was ready for each set/rep.

Took my time on the squats and hit everything nicely. I did grab a pad for the last set as the bar was starting to dig into my upper back a little. Pushed myself on the chin-ups and completed all the sets with 5 full range reps.

I approached the reverse lunges/single row SS the same as last week (just starting with a little heavier DB on the lunges). Lunges felt great and I ended with a decent weight on the last 2 sets. The 1 arm rows were a little MEH. Overall they were good. I just had to push through a rip on my right hand and tennis elbow flaring up in my left elbow. So the weight wasn't an issue, just these little nagging problems.

I went a little lighter than planned on the cardio SS. Since my elbow was flaring up already and I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, I didn't want to push it with the zottman and barbell curls. Took 1 step down on the DB/EZ BB for everything. Felt like this was the right call as I still got a good burn/pump in, but it didn't cause me to force anything.

Final thoughts on this plan are that it's tough and pushes you. When (not if) I do it again, I definitely won't be in a huge caloric deficit (dropped 8.5# over the 4 weeks). I think that would make a huge difference with still having something in the tank on the final sets each day. Now for a 2 week break to relax and recover before joining in on Pool Season (6/10 for me).

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I'm on my second run of Silverback (back to back) and have seen probably the best gains i have seen since i was a newbie. What is the general consensus for the next program to go to after this one? as i am getting a little bored of it.

Prefer 4 days and 1-1.5 hr in the gym, but willing to do 5 days.

Depends on what you’re looking for, do you want another strength focused program or more volume?

Strength for another 2 rounds and then will look at maybe hypertrophy.

I tried hypertrophy months ago and that might have been too much volume at the time.

Oak tree remastered looks like the logical step as you can run it 4 days per week.

70s big is also one to consider after Strongville. 70s big was awesome.

Strongville looked good when i looked it over. Maybe i will try that one.

70's big looked like it would take too much time.

Now that i look at the 70's big in depth, it looks very interesting. i Might give that a try after a nice week deload.

2 weeks into Grasshopper and I am enjoying it. Still planning to do it for 4 weeks at minimal weight then take a week off and figure out training maxes, then restart the program and do the full 8 weeks using that training max.

I also totally understand now why people skip leg day Soreness is hell after a squat heavy day. I used to run races and half marathons for fun and i feel like strength training is working out muscles i didnt know i had in my legs.

Love his programs. I’ve been doing them consistently for 18 months. I do have a random question - what does he have against pull-ups? Everything is a chin up.

I did some calculations. If i finish out the 4 intro weeks, take a week off, redo the Grasshopper program for a full 8 weeks, take a week off, then do 70s big 3 times a week to complete that 7 week program, I end in the last week of September. Lines up perfectly for my first Squatober if I'm able to do that this year. Might be my goal.

Yea I've noticed it is mostly all chin-ups as well. But I have seen pull ups before. And I suck at them

Do y’all incorporate cardio in these at all? Worried about overbulking if I don’t mix in cardio

Went back to a normal split after finishing arm farm 6 or so weeks ago. Jumping back in today with Turnt Up which is a 3 day program with alot of volume. Plan is to do the program M/W/F and do abs/cardio/HIT on T/T/S and rest on Sundays. Trying for a more cut/aesthetic build for summer

Just got off a 3 week turnaround at the plant in which I ate like shite the whole time so gotta get back right starting this week

One of the reasons I went back to a normal split was to do full legs days again. However, my knee tendinitis kicked back in because of this. I think full leg days may just be over for me. With PPSA I just leg press in place of squats and my knees do fine since it’s not over working them. I’ll just have to be content with maintaining them this way which is fine, just going to miss having those Jean hugging quads from intense leg days

About to finish pool season 1 Friday. It has been awesome. Do y’all think I should run it back and increase maxes 10 pounds? Or pick another plan?

I cant help with your question as I'm new to all this, but

4 weeks into Grasshopper and I changed my mind on stopping at 4 weeks. I am loving the program and lifting in general, and I'm intrigued by the 4x per week training that starts at week 5. So I'm going to run the program using light weights through 6 weeks and then take a week break. Lines up with a family vacation anyway. When I get back I will restart the program for a full 8 weeks with a training max.

After that I think i am going to go with "70s big". I like the idea of dedicated muscle group/exercise days each week.

Thanks to everyone's advice so far. I did not realize strength training would be addictive. Why did i waste so much time getting started?

If you are not bored with it, absolutely. If you are bored try PS2 or filling out the hoodie or arm farm, they are all pretty similar
