Fortunately for him I am also the strength coach at his high school. As far as programming he has followed a very similar path to the sports strength plans that we offer on our site, such as Sports Strength & Strong and Fast- he lifts 3 days of the week, every day of the year. He plays sports int he fall and spring (shot put track on off season) Nutrition he tries to eat 200 grams of protein a day as a goal and disciplined about going to bed every night.

Week 1 of Return of Dr Jacked. Had to skip day 3 New Year’s Day, I didn’t want to mess up the rotation so I ended up doing days 3 and 4 in one workout yesterday. Really wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Was essentially an hour and a half of legs-back-bis

restarted Filling out the hoodie yesterday, did day 2 today. I will say i notice i go much faster when using my lunch break at work to lift. At home, I tend to do a long warm up then do the prescribed warm up and then take the full rest break.

at work, i do shoulder dislocates then get right to the exercise with 1 or 2 warm up sets before main lifts is all. much faster

i really like filling out the hoodie and was doing mostly that during last month. My plan is to do it to the T this month. I will say i did go little hard on biceps last week doing FOTH but with the BFR bands and man my left bicep and even grip is still very very fatigued so went lighter on curls today as I dont want to hurt it worse, just get some blood flow to is to help it heal.

Completed Deadcember on 12/31, but wasn't happy with the PR results. I was at a different gym (it's decent, but very poor for barball training) and it was extremely cold (12 degrees; wind chill -1). Completed one of Aaron's DB IG post on 1/2. Then tested my 1RM on all 3 lifts 1/5 when I got back home.

Hit 380 on deadlift which was the TM I was using (30# increase over last year). Hit 245 on bench (20# increase) and 325 on squat (10# increase since Squatober). Overall a combined 1RM of 950#. Very pleased since it was exactly 2 years since I started lifting.

After seeing Arm Farm always mentioned on here, I started it yesterday. I'm sure testing my 1RM Sunday is playing a part, but 2 days in my arms are heavy! 175 reps of various curls and 132 reps of presses just on W1D1?!? Most of the PPSA plans I have completed so far were built around the big 3 compound lifts and arms felts more like an afterthought or secondary goal. Even with DB Strength, the focus was full body and not arms specifically. Previewing the plan, I've done all these lifts before (and most likely at the same reps), but never in the volume and combinations written. I have a feeling this will be a fun one before Benchuary.

w1D3 of FOTH is a longer one for sure

you have 3 sets of squats, then 7 sets of bench, then later another 4 sets of cgbp and with the cgbp being supersetted with overhead tricep ext, almost have to take the full rest break at a minimum. then the cardio is 5 sets so it adds up quickly, especially when it starts burning pretty good.

Last week was long and tough. Left the single digit temps of Minnesota Friday to drive back to Texas, then tested maxes on the big 3 Sunday.

M, T, Th, and F was my first week of Arm Farm. Loved it, but man was it intense by the end of each workout. Arms/shoulders were a mixed bag of sensations; grip (completely fatigued), forearms (hard as a rock), and shoulders (on absolute fire).

Since there isn't much leg/back work in Arm Farm, I compiled some accessories supersets from the last couple Deadcembers. Ran that on W and Sa.

SS1
KB Swings 3x10
Cable Pull Through 3x8
Weighted Back Extension 3x8
Dead Hang 3x30s

SS2
TKE 3x15 (each leg)
RFESS 3x5 (each leg)
Prone Leg Curl 3x8
Step Ups 3x5 (each leg)
Push/Pull Sled 3x20yds (push 20yds, then pull 20 yds)

SS3
Captain Chair Leg Raises 3x8
Standing Plate Twists 3x10
Planks 3x30s

Sunday was a welcomed rest day (other than typical adulting chores).

Completed W2D1 of Arm Farm. Arms felt almost identical to last week; heavy and on fire. Took everything to finish the last set of skullcrushers.

Just finished W1 D3 on Pump City and hit a pure leg day. Really enjoyed it and like that Pump City has a dedicated leg day. I’ve done Pool Season 2, FOTH and Mass that Lasts and none of those have dedicated leg days. What other PPSA programs have you done that have a leg day mixed in?

Running dumbbell strength with my 14 year old. Through week 1 never run it before

Like it, lots of supersets with high reps so you feel it for sure. Good change of pace from barbell centric programs been running past 5-6 months

Fun to work out with my boy

Cheers

Running “The Return of Dr Jacked” and it has dedicated leg days. Even 2/week on weeks 2 and 4. Loving it. Ends each with wall sits which are killer.

1 week left. I’ve had Jacked Up Joker downloaded for a year and a half now but have never done it because after I bought it I realized it dosent have any deads. I may finally start it up next just to knock jt out and because it’s a 5 day/week program which I love.

Db strength is really tough, much tougher than people realize. Good thing is it’s easily adjusted where you can add a little volume at a time for a newer lifter and it can really prepare them to be ready to start linear progression with the barbell. It’s one of my favorite programs but it can be a bitch from overall volume standpoint if you do as programmed. Feel it for sure

I finishing up filling out the hoodie week 2 today. Only thing I can do it the reverse curls and I have to sub ez bar curls for barbell curls as those kill my forearms.

Completed W3D1 of Arm Farm. As has been normal for day 1 of this plan, arms were torched by the end.

Walked to the gym this morning, plan on walking again tomorrow. Temperature will be about the same (28-29), but the big difference will be the snow. Looking forward to it.

Return of Dr Jacked is in the books. The freeze pushed me back a week so knocked it out in 5 weeks. Great program. Biggest difference between this one and the original is no Carries in this one, they had a ton in the first one. Also, this one had dedicated leg days which I loved, and a lot of back. I’d say the first one had more chest. Both great and not to harsh for a 5 day plan.

Decided to get back to the program that started it all for me on Monday. THE MULLET. Just a solid full body program.
