10 more @9min this morning. It was one of those mornings where you don't want to go, and then it never gets better haha. On a side note, what race you got in July? There's a 9 and 18 mile train run in July I'm tempted to sign up for.

Yesterday- trail half marathon . 3k plus elevation gain. 2.5 hours. Pretty happen with it, especially only 2 weeks removed from a 100mile finish

Hit 5 miles the other day. 2m at higher tempo - 8:36 and 7:54 which felt good. Then back so my normal pace of 9:30's.
Wife ran her first ever 10k with some friends over the weekend here in OKC. Got 2nd in her age group (26-30). Was damn proud of her! 58:03 if I remember right.

Got out and ran 6.5 @ 9:15 after work, first mid day run since it's been in the 80s, shirt had to come off at about mile 3 lol.

One advantage of running before 6am is no shirt, nobody's around to see, no care. And if it's >55, shirt's off from the start.
3.5 @ 9:08/mi, felt good. I figured out a workaround to the Strava on the Samsung watch not staying on-screen as the watch face goes off, there is a setting for display last app time (time over which it shows the last app vs. going to watch face), you can set to 2 minutes or an hour. Hour does it just fine for my runs.

Intervals this AM at City Park in New Iberia. Felt great. Nice park that was well lit, well maintained, with live oaks and Spanish moss.
7 miles. Intervals of 7:30, 7:30, 7:15, 7:15. Total climb of 70’.

5k at 37:47, 12:11 pace.
My daughter runs 10k and half-marathons. The best time this old arse had before was just under 40 minutes, but she was visiting for the weekend and went with me yesterday and gave me some good advice to help me lower my heart rate and extend my runs and reduce walking for recovery. Seems to have helped.

Tiger 10k this morning. 59:51.
First 10k ever. Wanted to break 1 hour. Could have pushed harder earlier but had a good time. 2nd 5k was faster than the first.

What was the advice to lower your HR?
Posted on 4/20/26 at 1:02 am to LSUSports247
Head up, chest out, breath through nose and exhale through mouth pushing out longer, which makes more space available for oxygen, which more oxygen is good for endurance and lowers the rate the heart has to work to distribute oxygen, hence a reduced bom and longer endurance. Second was to exercise my ankles with a jump rope or squat jumps. Haven't tried this yet but she says that this will help me develop more of a spring in my step, saying I'm on the ground to long and too much of my foot is flat on the ground and that's robbing me of energy that should otherwise be rebounding in each step. She says there's a physical cadence to it and is going send me some videos to help me figure it out and said I probably need to try a few more shoes and getting fitted, especially at my age to protect myself from risk of injury. She's been running since the 8th grade so I trust her on this.
