12 miles this AM. Hot and humid. Average HR 142. Pace 10:30. Supposed to be in the 50’s next week.

Did 10x3 minutes yesterday, kept it between 6:50 and 7:00 pace. My kid woke up sick at 3am so the run today got scratched. Hopefully he's better tonight so I can do my long run tomorrow.

What's your slide board setup? Looking for something different to do.

I use the Brnnn board. It’s basically a piece of plexiglass with bumpers on it. It came with some covers for your shoes and cleaner for the board. The weighted vest is key to get my HR in zone. There’s a ton of online work outs for it.
I like it for cross training because it’s more fun than the treadmill, I’m working in a different plain than running, and I can do it at home.

High Altitude question;
Looking at doing a 10K in Pioneertown, CA
High desert, elevation 4000'.
I've never run in that much altitude.
Any tips/ideas appreciated.

Have not ran at altitude but I definitely notice my perceived effort HR and sleep improves about 3 days into a trip (hunting/skiing) I would definitely plan to get there 3days prior to race day.

Altitude varies person to person. Not
Much you can truly do except hydrate, don’t drink alcohol, and get some extra sleep the week leading up to travel. 4K isn’t that higher so shouldn't give you headache or anything like that even from sea level. I’d say at 4k you’re just swapping humidity for elevation.

What kind of dog? My next one will be able to run.

She’s Mostly no listen and always hungry… mixed breed street dog but dna test is mainly Lab and cattle dog. 53 lbs. will run 4-6s miles almost daily on roads but prefers trails and has gone 15 miles w/ 3500’ gain with no problem. Snowier the better she claims. Lots of good dogs out there will make you a good running partner. Be cautious with some breeds as they may want / need to run more than you want to.

Yeah it's gotta be low 20s or crazy windy near 30 for me to put something on my legs. Sweat is worse than starting out a little cold.

52 this morning absolutely perfect.

What would a track interval session for a 18:59 5k look like? Last week I did 12x400 w/1 min rest at like 1:27 average for the first 11 and 1:20 for the last one. How far off am I?
Tonight going to try
4x200 @ 40s w/20s rest
2x400 @ 1:25 w/ 1m rest
1x800 @ 3:00 w/ 3m rest
1x800 @ 3:00 w/1 m rest
2x400 @ 1:25 w/1m rest
4x200 @ 40s w/20s rest

Just started training for the half marathon in January...prompted by a buddy to run it with him. I'm a 30 minute 5k guy. In my 3rd -ish week of training. Really just got back into running since I've figured out how to manage my It-band and tight hips with couch stretch and pigeon variations. Along with actually using the girl machine at the gym.
I run for 1 hour on Mondays, fastest 5k I can run on Wednesdays, and then a 2 hour run on Saturdays.
I'm only walking for about 2-3 minutes of my hour run and around 10 for my 2 hour. Trying to get that to 0 over the next month and then work on pace.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Are these the only 3 runs you do every week?
If you're already doing a 2 hour long run you'll be more than ok for a half marathon. My advice would be swapping out the all-out 5k on Wednesday for a threshold workout (something like 6-7 x 1km with a minute rest or 3-4 x 1 mile with 90 seconds rest) and add 2 days of short easy runs on Tuesday and Thursday.
