Are these the only 3 runs you do every week?
If you're already doing a 2 hour long run you'll be more than ok for a half marathon. My advice would be swapping out the all-out 5k on Wednesday for a threshold workout (something like 6-7 x 1km with a minute rest or 3-4 x 1 mile with 90 seconds rest) and add 2 days of short easy runs on Tuesday and Thursday.
I mean I've only done 1 of the 2 hour runs so far first week i just did 2 1 hour sessions to break into it.
I like the idea of 3-4 1 milers with a break instead of the 5k. I'm just trying to let my legs heal a little bit between runs

Yeah it's not best practice to run all out every week, especially if you're on a relatively low volume schedule. If you decide to swap your 5k day with a workout, your reps should be slower than the pace you'd run for a 5k race. You should feel like they're uncomfortable, but not so uncomfortable that you need to stop.

What would a track interval session for a 18:59 5k look like?
I’d wager it would look the same as a track interval session for a 19:59 5k but at 18:59 or faster paces. All about hitting the pace and being able to hold it.

Did my Friday workout outdoors for the first time since my T1D diagnosis. I need to tweak how I manage my blood sugar a little bit during the workout but all things considered it was fine. Averaged around 4:14 for my km repeats with 60 seconds rest
Also my treadmill is a liar. I've been suspicious that it's going faster than it says because I feel like I'm pretty in tune with pacing. 7:00 pace feels uncomfortable on the treadmill and I would catch myself creeping down to the 6:30s on the road without realizing.

Bought some Asics Superblasts today. Plan on using for long runs only
Posted on 10/26/25 at 4:37 pm to goldennugget
That's exactly how I use them. I wear my Novablasts for everything except long runs, and Superblasts for long run only. Put another 12 miles on them today at 8:24 pace

15m at 11:58 pace
Average HR 139
Couple more weeks at this volume then crank it up for a 50miler in Feb/march

5 x 1k this morning. For the first time ever running that workout, I hit each rep at sub 20 5k pace. First three reps were into a stiff headwind too.
Corporate Classic 5k is coming up in a week and a half…not going to get my hopes up, but gonna try to full send it and see if I can’t get that sub 20 after 5 years of running.

3 miles 140HR. 3 miles progressive at 160, 170, and 180HR. Pushed the stroller and my pace is suffering. Felt great tonight. Baby did great. Drank beer and hung out with the run groups.

My lady just ran 3:29:12 at NYC. Should be good for Boston 2027. Guess I have to figure out my issues and try to qualify at some point. Need 3:10 for the assumed 5 min cushion.

Get it baw.
What kind of workouts do yall like to do during a 5k “taper”? So much conflicting info out there. Can’t decide if I should do a harder workout tomorrow, or something hitting target pace but lower volume.

Settled on McMillian 400’s.
3 sets of 3x400 @ 5k pace with 100m/200m/400m rest for each set. Also supposed to be a pace progression for each set.
Wished I had time to do another 5x1k or other longer effort at pace to prove I can hold the pace for longer, but don’t want to be totally beat up/tired for race day.

Curious what your race day shoe is for a half marathon.

Just bought some really stupid shoes I’ve never heard of because they were on sale and I haven’t seen anyone anywhere review them.
UYN Synapsis - $79.99 at sierra.com
Apparently UYN is an Italian brand that specializes in socks and knits. Their parent company partners with a lot of major brands and they produce for them as well. Looking forward to giving some insight on how bad these will probably be
That said, their clothing does look nice.

I raced my half in the Metaspeed Edge. I read that if you're more of a cadence guy you want the Edge, if you're a stride length guy you want the Sky.

Asics marketed the Sky and Edge so confusingly and stupidly.
From what I’ve read, Sky = plate toward the top of the midsole, so you’ll compress the foam first. I think this results in a softer ride with less stability. Edge = plate toward the bottom of the midsole which should result in a firmer feeling and more responsive ride.
For reference, the Vaporfly plate is more toward the bottom. Most carbon plated shoes have the plate with an S curve closer to the bottom.
