Cross trained today. 1.25 hrs of weighted stadiums in the 135-140 zone 2 range.
Added some 2 lb dumbbells. Amazing that swinging your arms while walking up stairs increases your HR so much.

I'm gonna do that this week. Gonna start with 2lbs like you, even though I work my arms pretty heavy. I'm guessing it humbles me.

Wasn’t 100% this AM. Had the colonoscopy on Thursday. Between the fasting, the cleanse, and getting back to normal food, I wasn’t in race shape like the 5k a couple of weeks ago.
With that said, I did the Oktoberfest 10K today. Shaved a minute off my PR. I didn’t win my age group which was disappointing, but the dude that won the race was my age. Weird. Stuck with my race plan to a T: 170HR mile one, 180HR miles 2-3, 185HR miles 4-5, and let it rip mile 6. Best lap was mile 5 at 7:25.
Anyway, running with friends and big beers at the finish.

7 miles at ten min pace.
Gonna start pushing my long runs each week trying to maintain 10m pace in prep for a 10min pace La marathon.

Having a colonoscopy then racing on the weekend? You're a braver man than me! I'd be worried about some residual explosions
10.5 today in 90 minutes, weekly total around 44. Most since my T1D diagnosis. Might be most since my half marathon build but I can't remember. I got the Superblast 2s to use as a long run only shoe and they are NICE.

I was concerned. I definitely wasn’t 100%. I felt like I could have done a little better, but was happy with the effort considering.

Arkansas Traveler 100 race report
Distance: 100 miles (101.1 according to Coros)
Elevation gain: 11,700 feet
Time: 28:34
Details: The race started with a 17 mile loop on pretty technical single track trails and then moved to an out and back on gravel and dirt roads/ trails. Many of the dirt roads were unrunable between the elevation change and the loose rocks. There were several runnable sections, but I blew my quads out in the first 30 miles. I walked/power-hiked the entire last 50k. Temps in the mid 80s made the middle of the day pretty tough as the course had many sections that were completely exposed. This ended up being the longest that I've ever been on my feet for a race.
The AT100 team put on a good event. Friendly and well organized. I also got to see an Arkansas Brown Tarantula out on the cousre, so that was cool. Glad I did this one, but wouldn't do it again.

Really struggled last night on my tempo run. Worst I’ve done in a while. Legs felt dead and just generally not with it.
I’ve been measuring my HRV with the Morpheus app. It peaked on the day of the colonoscopy and has steadily declined until today. Yesterday was the lowest that I’ve ever measured it and the lowest it’s ever adjusted my HR zones.
Wonder if there is a direct correlation between gut biome and HVR?

I watched my HRV closely, and I find that daily stress levels play a huge part in deviations. When I've had a rough day, it'll tank, and when I relax more at night, it goes up.
More than anything for me, focusing on keeping anxiety and stress at a minimum a few hours before I go to sleep has made a huge impact on my numbers.
I've gone from 40's to 60's and 70's just focusing on stress.

You might be getting sick.
My HRV always tanks with any combination of the following: alcohol, eating late, illness.

Which watch/app do y'all have that tracks HRV? My Garmin 245 doesn't from what I can tell
Posted on 10/8/25 at 2:59 pm to Ingeniero
I have the Forerunner 970.
Posted on 10/8/25 at 6:21 pm to Ingeniero
Garmin FR265 here.
245 doesn’t track HRV. You can get a Morpheus like Aubie. They were $100 last I looked into them.

I workout with a chest strap for HR so the Morpheus for HRV made a lot of sense. I’ve been roughly following their training recommendations for the week especially hitting the VO2 and threshold targets. I blow out their ‘recovery’ target every week.
1.25 hrs with the slide board and weighted vest, 130HR.

Ah got it. I'll probably just wait until my 245 croaks. I don't care about metrics that much, especially since I don't wear a chest strap during workouts
