Thanks bro, trying to not be a bitch.
Did 1hr at 145HR. No music, just thinking. My wife talked to her boss and will be able to adjust schedule to accommodate things, and I don't think I can turn down the raise I'll be getting taking this job even though hours aren't what I need. I've got a year left in school and with this new schedule, I will have almost 0 time with my daughter until next August, but I guess it's the right choice. Sucks though.

My $0.02, not a chance in hell. Take the job with shitty hours for the time being, keep looking for something with better hours. You can’t make up for lost time with your children. I’d never choose my job/career over my kids.

Don't forget to consider the long term though. If 1 year of pain now creates many years of a better situation in the future, it could be worth it. Lots of factors. Having to still be working when grandkids start to come into play, for instance.

Anyway, running thread...I hate August. Slowed down to 9:10/mi or so the past 2 weeks. Can't even remember the last time I wore a shirt to run.

I say 0 time, it just won't be as much as I'm used to. Instead of 5-6 hours every week day, maybe just 2. Ive been out of the army for a decade now and have gotten spoiled with getting to see family everyday and I'm starting to realize I may be being a bit dramatic. I've been stuck at the house for 6 weeks since this started and I am in my own head bad. Going to hit a trail this weekend and try to clear it up.

9.25 last night at 141 HR and 11:15 pace. Ran the reverse Statue over to Saw’s BBQ in Crestwood. Drank beer. Had fun.

Yeah I completely derailed the thread, my bad.
Anyone ever run Saucony Hurricane 24 or 25?
I've had the ride17 and tempus 2 but looking for an easy run/slow long distance shoe.

Posted it in my diabetes thread, but yesterday I did my first workout since diagnosis. 20 minute warmup, 6x3 minutes at threshold with 1 minute walking rest, then cool down to hit 7 miles. My blood sugar doesn't drop drastically or anything so I'm more confident in doing harder stuff now.

Glad to hear that.

I decided to cross train today and hopped on the bike for a 28 mile ride. Felt amazing first half, then the return leg was 13 miles in a stiff headwind…shite sucked. Thought the bike ride would be shorter than a long run and a little easier. Nope. Not at all, not even close.

When y'all cross train, how do you decide on a duration and intensity? I'm considering adding in some Zwift or outdoor rides to increase the aerobic load without upping mileage

Oh there is no rhyme or reason. This ride was born out of needing to ride the bike I just spent $800 refurbishing .

That said, my avg HR was 142, intensity wise it was definitely close to a 10 mile or more run. I’m just not an avid cyclist so this ride made my legs like jello. Mad respect to the cyclists.

Did not adequately stretch before run today and had to turn around 1.5 in, IT band was screaming. As soon as I got back to the car and stretched out it calmed down so will try again tomorrow and do the full warm up with stretches im supposed to do.
But first, biscoff milkshake.

Sounds like you don't need to be ignoring your PT

Did my first 20 miler of this cycle today... averaged 8:22 moving pace.

Had some big stops at mile 3 for the Running Club to "start up" as they gave us instructions and what events were coming up. Then had another big stop at mile 7 when one of the guys running with us took 12 minutes in the bathroom...

Otherwise just a brutal run in the heat, I'm starting to realize I need to have 0 expectations for September's race because it's going to just be hot

ETA: Admin, I'm just reading back on this thread, sorry about your job situation, hopefully everything works out for you. I'm kinda like you, family comes first and foremost for me, so if ANYTHING messes with my family time I get SUPER PISSED. You'll get through it and end up stronger on the other side, you got this

One of those things where you start to feel better so you think you don't need to warm up anymore, just do a few leg swings and hit pavement lol.
And thanks man, it will work out.
The cooler weather in bama has been nice this week, hopefully September is more of the same and race day isn't too bad for yall.
