Dude the whole race is being squeezed to death. Its a "non profit" and "100%" of the "profits" go to local charity. Its owned privately and everyone in that family is making money.

Now lets start with the fact it was a sellout, more than 18,000 bibs sold:

3 buses running from City Park back to the Dome, saw one just sitting maybe it was broken down?

No portable potty's on the race course. So you are pushing 18,000 people 6 miles and nobody has to piss, or god forbid the unthinkable you have to take a dump? Maybe I missed them but I dont recall seeing one. And you dont need them the first 3 miles but you do need them after that.

We dont go to the after party. After they halved the footprint its literally hand to hand combat, Lord of the Flies kinda shite to get a beer.

Same thing happened to me. Last year I hopped on a bus and had tons of time at the dome. This year I got to city park a little later and had a 30 minute wait for the bus to the start line. Then huge line for port-a-potties. None upstairs like last year. Made it to the start line at 7:57.

Wheels fell off after the halfway point. Still had fun at the post-race party before it got too crowded though.

Thankfully, I had been warned by a long-time CCC runner that if I got to the buses at City Park after 6:15am that things may get tight. So my running mate and I got there early and jumped on a bus at 6:10 or so. We had no issues. The lines at the buses had already started to back up while we were waiting so my running mate and I speculated that a lot of folks behind us were likely to miss the start. Sounds like that is exactly what happened. Anyhow, I had a disappointing run but a great time at the party. Will do it again next year.

Yeah I Uber’d downtown and ran home after the race. Heard the shuttles were a mess. My only complaints were no water or trash cans near the corrals. Oh and post race music is about 25 decibels too high…but that’s every year and I didn’t stick around long anyway. Some folks on Reddit were annoyed with the confetti cannons spectators had…I kind of agree at least for the first wave of runners. Save that for the party pace folks, not people actually competing.

Holy hell. Man, I really try not to be judgemental but what does a person that runs a 5k at 13:30/mile need with compression legs?

HOW DARE YOU!!

There would be so much leakage coming out of those compression boots, completely useless for her but whatever

I keep having to put my disclaimer into my posts, I truly don't disparage anyone for being physical and moving. At least she's doing that.

But she ran a 13:30/mile 5k then rewarded herself with a 1500 calorie cheesecake, followed by wearing compression boots the day after? It's just too much for me.

So did anyone else watch Boston? I'm amazed at the athleticism required to run those 2 hour marathons. Those people are like aliens to me.

Yeah I had it playing in the background during work. I can’t imagine being in that kind of shape and apparently neither can the other 30k people.
I saw truett Hanes who now has the pull up record of 10k pull ups in 24hrs ran a 2:38 in blue jeans!
I just listened to his dads podcast interviewing truetts uncle Taylor spike who came in second in the Arizona monster 300mile ultra last week.

The Hanes family are absolute monsters. I don't understand how am entire family can be so good at so many things, it's ridiculous.

Also Oats I know, you should know I know, I made fun of her cheesecake comment earlier as well. The thing is, that woman doesn't know, and it's kinda sad that a number bigger than 0 see her post and think of her as an inspiration. I love the running community, but the running community is filled with Charlatans. I make fun of Goggins, but at least Goggins is real

Took me 2 invites to get in the run Disney group to check out these "big fake tits" (I think I should have been "less" honest with the application question, but it's true....the last race I ran was the OKC Memorial Marathon in 2004, finished in 6:53:14, very proud ), but I eventually got in, and....and.....you call those big? Her 2 front teeth are big, but the cans? Nope. I do appreciate her times, I can run with that. She has made me feel worthy that's for sure, but I would not be caught dead within a mile of anyone that thinks that particular top is so great they have to wear it THAT much.

She loves those tops for that reason, she's thirsty to show off the goods. I mean I wasn't suggesting they were like ZZZ's or anything but they're not small.

I try my best to encourage anyone running regardless of pace as well. But I've never seen such effort for attention and the things like those compression boots or whatever they are called are just a bit much. It's entertaining for sure.
I watched it on and off and thought I was just missing key moments in the race but it seems like the coverage was not the best.

Same with other disciplines, such as triathlon. When I started training for my first sprint tri last year, I was kind of shocked at the people who held themselves out as “triathletes” and offered “training advice.” But the running community does seem to attract its fair share.

Anyone here ever run the Marine Corps Marathon in DC? I'm planning out my fall, and this marathon lines up really well with my schedule.

Yep multiple times. It's a very good race. A few hills in the first part of the course in Arlington, but otherwise pretty flat. Wouldn't say it's particularly fast, but a great way to see the city. You cover just about everything. Georgetown, Rock Creek Park, the Mall, Pentagon etc.

The last 10k through Crystal City and back down to Arlington is pretty tedious and ugly, but otherwise it's great.

Yeah, I noticed you run a portion of it on the interstate. Bleh.

I was going to sign up for Detroit, but they aren't even taking waitlisters for that one at this point. Totally sold out.
