This weekend I ran the Goldenfliers 10 miler. While it was not around the lakes this year, I was happy the race was back. I was not well prepared for the race with having only run twice the two weeks leading up to race. Additionally, I was not feeling well Friday and did not eat all day Friday or before the race. Goal was sub 90 minutes and was on pace until mile 6 when I had to stop to retie my shoes (rookie mistake) and had a head wind all the way back to the finish on top the levee. Per my Garmin it was 10.04 miles with a time of 1:31:16 and a average pace if 9:05. The shoe ordeal accounted for about 40-45 seconds per Garmin's idle time on the run. Overall I am pleased with the outcome given everything else.
Next race is the Wilderness 10 miler in St. Francisville 1-4-25. With the hills I am not sure how much improving I will do but it will be a great training run before the LA half later in January.

Ran a 1:28 half marathon off the bike at Ironman 70.3 Florida, 6:44/mile pace. 5th best run split of the day, it was warm humid and windy on a somewhat hilly course. My run felt pretty sustainable, felt like a higher end Zone 3 run for most of it until I had to push the effort a bit the final 2 miles to hold pace. Top run split was 1:19 by the guy who broke the tape.
My overall time was 4:42, 13th place AG 52nd place overall out of 2000+. 70.3 is not my best distance and I didn't have the top end bike power to ride the bike split needed to place in the Top 5.

That is absolutely insane, your age group must be brutal. People that do Tri competitions are another level, kudos to you guys
I did 7 miles at Oak Mountain today, gonna have a more reserved / chill week this week after my "pushing it" week last week to let me body get stronger / recover

I need to go running at Oak Mountain and get some trails in. Only time I do that is Peavine.

Feel free to message me if you would like to come down and run at lunchtime sometime
It's a great "mental reset" out there, the trails are super technical so you can't go super fast, but also because they are so technical your brain is firing the entire time you are moving, it's great.

Can’t go for lunch runs at Oak Mnt. That’d be nice.
3 easy at 140HR.
3.5 at tempo with 4 sprint intervals.
I’ve been neglecting sprints based off my recent performances. Plan on correcting that.

3.5 with no shirt on before dawn. Very weird this time of year, but now it's cold again. I have my winter running kit all ready, it's been strange wearing that on a Monday and then later in the week back to no shirt. And I'm officially an old man, going on about the weather.

14 easy miles tonight at 140HR. Little sore from the sprints the day before.

Progressive run tonight. One mile at 130HR, two miles at 140HR, and finished it with three miles at 165HR. 650’ of climb, last mile was the fastest @ 8:50/mile. Beers and BBQ @ Martin’s BBQ in Cahaba Heights. Good times.

9 miles today @ 8:20
I feel like I'm doing "just enough" to keep from digressing but not enough for anything else.
2 year old daughter has the flu, I'm just waiting for my time with it, this time of the year sucks

Supposed to 5K tomorrow, but wife wanted to go to Taylor Hicks tonight. I’ll go do 9 miles on the track tomorrow with a 5K at race pace. Just not at 7AM.

Slept in. No 5K for me today. Cross trained today. 30 mins jump rope at HR 135. 30 mins weighted stadiums at HR 135. 30 mins on the track at HR 140 with 1/8 mile backward sprints.
I was amazed how easy the run felt after the weighted stadiums.

Visiting BR for the Christmas break and need an 18 and 20 mile run route. Other than some loops around campus are there any other places to get that distance in?

Another 10 easy today for 37 on the week. Peak week coming up
