13 easy miles today. 6.5 @ 11min/mile. 6.5 @ 10min/mile. Feels amazing out there bros. Tons of hotties in the yoga pants and ponytails this AM. Great time to be alive and in shape.

No personal running updates as I’ve been sick but coming brah on my xc team for a bit. My top two girls ran the two fastest 5ks in our schools history yesterday. 18:31 and 18:45. Before I took over it had been 20 years since they won a league title (Kansas). Just won our 4th straight yesterday.

That’s awesome, congrats!

Knocked out a 3 x 2 mile long run workout today. My fitness is so gone, could only hold around +/-7:30 on each interval. Took a chance and ran in the Diadora Atomo v7000. I have two pairs of these for casual wear as I often find them on sale for $150 or less and they look awesome. Decided to grab a pair to run in and they’re surprisingly good. They run narrow and maybe on the firmer side for most people, but Goldilocks feel for me personally. Will be a good daily/long run shoe. I also have some Topo Specters to try out. Supposed to be a good long run or tempo shoe, they feel more firm than the Diadoras on foot. Will try to run in them sometime this week.

Paced the 7 Bridges Marathon today - 4hr group and had a few people break the 4hr! Was super excited for them!

My chip time was 4:00:05 - turns out that 05 is frowned upon but I was cutting up in the middle because I had a 2 minute buffer and ended up overcorrecting. Turns out they would rather you be 2 minutes ahead than 5 seconds behind. Things to know for next time

Bro what. They’d rather you be 2 minutes quicker vs 5 seconds slower?? Pretty damn impressive to be a 4:00:00 pacer and hit 4:00:05

Yeah preferring your pacer be 2 minutes too fast vs 5 seconds too slow is crazy! You'll blow people up going out too fast, 5 seconds is plenty of time for someone to decide the pace isn't quite hot enough for them and going ahead the last 10k.

Although I will say the absolute rudest people i encountered when working a marathon were the middling 4-5hr groups. The faster people were super kind and gracious, the slower groups were enjoying themselves and loved the support but God forbid you didn't hold the cup out just right for the guy running a 4:45 full.

6.23 @ 8:51

Just trying to log some miles. The last couple weeks have been hell at work and this week will be, too. I had a bike malfunction on Saturday that screwed my planned 44 mile ride. And I haven’t been hitting enough HIIT. I’ll need to buckle down in November and December.

In my experience, the biggest complainers at any race are the slowest “racers.”

Same exact thing at Ironman events.

i am slow. i don't think I've ever been rude to someone but i hated myself for signing up during the last hour of the marathon

i didn't need all the positivity "you got this" people, I needed Goggins calling me a bitch.

So I have learned that it doesn't matter how slow I'm going, I hate the last 4 miles of a Marathon just like everyone else, I am not nice, so the last 4 miles there was no "you got this" from me, just a simple "you better hurry up if your goal was sub-4, cause I'm about to pass you and I'm not slowing down"

This from the guy that was taking song request at mile 18

Signed up for my first Marathon in December. First time in a while I've gotten back to some nervous excitement training.

Hahaha I also HATE the “you got this - you’re almost there!” Yells at the end of (half) marathons. Like, yeah, I get your point, but I’m over here dying and a few miles might as well be 20.

Awesome Thunder, let us know which one you signed up for!

Verity Sense HRM came in today, excited to use it tonight! My first reaction is that I’m definitely going to loose the charger haha

I’ll take any reinforcement when struggling. But channeling my inner “stop being a bitch” or “don’t be a coward” voice is pretty powerful.

That's ok, in the trail racing / ultra world these words mean jack shite. At Pinhoti last year there was a guy after a big climb telling everyone "you're almost there" - we were not in fact "almost there" we were still 8 miles out, and after 92 miles that 8 miles might as well have been 31...

4 miles in the Topo Specter this morning. If you like a firm shoe, this is it. Comfortable upper, wide toe box, nice rocker, just very firm…which I’m learning I kind of like.

Thinking about signing up for Miss Gulf Coast HM in December. It’s 5-6 weeks before my full in Houston, so good timing. Anyone else running it this year?
