Why am I just now hearing about this?

It has been talked about ad nauseum in the different running groups throughout the area:

Long Run group, medium run group, BUTS, BRATS, Thursday night runners, and Nameless have all had discussions about it, have you been living under a rock?

(I realize you don't get on Facebook much )

I must have. I seriously haven't heard about it until today.

For those of those following, there seems to have been a rash of early morning owl attacks on runners using the most popular trail in the city. BA is claiming to have been a victim of such an attack.

NB supercomp trainer v2. Ugh undecided so far. Super comfortable in general and At 9:00 pace easy going but having hard time getting them to turnover. Part of that is probably my nerve issue. Will report back after another week or so using them.

If we are talking shoes, ordered the Xero HFS2 when they went on sale this week. The original HFS is the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.

Found the reason you aren’t breaking 7:00. You’re wearing bowling shoes to run. Probably not a lot traction

I had one stalk me for a while on the trail around West Point Lake last year. It never attacked, but it was quite unnerving to see that giant shadow passing over me multiple times.

I race in my Altras, but all my base work is in the Xeros. The HFS2 has an added foam layer. Curious to see if it has the same ground feel, but a little extra that will allow me to race comfortably in them.

I got really into foot health and stability training a couple of years ago. The books I’ve read and podcasts I’ve listened to all agree on these basics: wide toe box and lowest heel/toe drop as comfortably possible.

I can’t get away from my cush. If they work for you and keep you injury free, then keep on keepin on.

It took over a year to get where I could get all my base mileage in them. My feet and leg strength were awful.

Got in 7 miles last night. 3 miles at HR 130. Did the last 4 miles as 1/4 mile fartleks. Taking today off and have a 10K on Saturday.

Can sort by distance, month, state, etc.

Dude, yes the owl is real, took one of my hats and it felt like it was going to scalp me. Scared the crap out of me!!

Happened to me when I was 6 or 7 when we were letting a barn owl recuperate in one of our barns. My dad was a vet, so occasionally we would take in something like this. "Hooter" swooped off a rafter, took my orange t-ball team hat, flew off over the back field, and we never saw him again.

50 miler done!!

11:43 was my final time. It has tempered my expectations (for the 100), but also super excited for the next few weeks and to get this one done. (Got up to 84 degrees during the run today and I couldn't keep my heart rate low without walking 100%)

Nice work!! How do you feel overall? Did your fueling plan go well? Try to get out today and walk several times.

What were your expectations and why are they tempered now?

Pretty good, I'm confident I'll be able to pace the 4:45 marathon group tomorrow (pacing the last half)

It went sub-optimal at best - I learned a WHOLE lot about what I could and couldn't take though. Past 4 hours I can't really do "solids" - luckily I had packed 2 16oz bottles of Mountain Dew and some apple sauces that held me over for the last 22 miles (also Gatorade). I know Tunnel Hill will have Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Broth, ect. and I'll make sure I have soda for Tunnel Hill as well.

I've already been up and moving a lot today, I want to get to 10k steps today, so I'll keep moving.

I originally thought a sub-24 hour was within the realm of possibility for me, now I just want to finish.

Did the Oktoberfest 10K in Cullman, AL. 300 people total and 100 or so in the 10K. Course was relatively flat (to me) and they had big beers at the end.

I ran an easy 4 miles to start around the course. I finished in the top 20 and 1st in my age group. 8:04/mile well off my 10K PR, but I was taking it easy, chatting with some other runners, and having fun. My last two miles were my fastest 7:50 and 7:45. Last quarter was under 7:00 pace. The course was a 5K you did twice and not particularly scenic, but Cullman does Oktoberfest the right way. The local bank paid 1-3 finishers for both the men and women for both races. $300/$200/$100. Not that I would have won, but based off the times that got paid, lots of folks here could easily take home some cash.

Am I reading it right that 19:58 won the men's 5k and 42:10 won the 10k?

Another 10 miler this morning to notch another 30+ mile week. I overslept so the heat crept up on me this morning. A few more weeks of casual running before my HM block starts
