video on tiktok or youtube of a guy in NY that tried running a marathon while eating a 5mg gummy every mile. he made it to maybe mile 14.

Jordan you should have no problem skipping 3 and just go with 6. do it for science.

no one be jealous but it was 36 degrees here this morning.

Are you really in Bozeman? I'm looking at the Mizzoula Half Marathon for next year as a vacation race.

It was 67 for my long run yesterday and I felt like the Nicolas Cage breezy gif. The guy from Sweat Elite YouTube is training for Chicago and was complaining about it "being a bit hot" in the 60s. I just chuckled

yes we moved to bozeman from philly back in april. Missoula is 2.5 hr from here. that race attracts a lot of runners for the size of cities in the general vicinity.. Course if flat and elevation not an issue. Great place to make for a race vacation. plan for enough time to go to Glacier for a couple of days.

Lot of great trail races throughout Montana. The Rut at Big Sky is a running festival weekend. various races from the vertical challenge (2.7ish mile and 3500' gain) to 10k, 20k, 50k distances.

Bridger ridge run here in Bozeman traverses the bridge range. 19ish miles 6k gain 8k descent. Really fun event. Some crazy fast runners showup. Winner this year was just over 3hrs, and this ain't no buffed out west coast trail

Ran Chicago half in 1:54:39. Goal was 1:55:00. 8:45 pace.

Not bad for 36 and only running twice a week I guess.

i hate you. trying like hell to get my half time down from 215 to under 2. 4 weeks out of my half and i doubt i am going to do it. I need the temps to be in the 50s.

Last year i ran the same half and got murdered by 77 and 90% humidity. Hoping for better weather this year.

The half is the best distance, nobody can convince me otherwise. I constantly train for the marathon distance (or in the case of the last 3 months, an ultra) and at any point can drop into a half marathon.

They are the most supported races, they almost always have the most enthusiasm, and they are just flat out fun. You can go like 85% effort the entire time and it feel amazing after

I'm a big 15K fan. That's easily my favorite distance.

I'd appreciate hearing how y'all race a half then, because I've never raced anything over a 10k. I've heard people say a half is a little slower than your threshold pace which sounds painful for an hour and a half

The big thing for me is that you can run the half marathon distance during training. You can run a good bit over the half marathon distance in training.

I tend to average 35-50 miles a week on average, and my long run is going to be anywhere from 12 to 22 miles, so basically week in and week out I'm running the half marathon distance and putting another 20-35 miles on my legs throughout the week.

A friend of mine is running his first half marathon in 3 weeks, I was shocked that his training didn't have him going over 13 miles at all - but when I thought about it, that makes sense for a first timer. If you are trying to get your time faster I recommend running more on your long run days.

My PR for the Half is: 1:45. I hope to break into the 1:30s next year at some point early in the year, I might even sign up for a half and actually train for it this time, with a taper and everything.

5k, 10k, and 15k races are great but I just don't find them to be quite as "supported" or energetic as the half marathons I've been to. 5k and 10k races can getting pretty big on attendance, but most of them have themes or a gimmick so very few people are actually out there to "race hard" and you rarely get any reward for completing the race and the "refreshments" afterwards are usually pretty bad.

I do like me a good 5k though, all out balls to the walls running for 20 minutes is invigorating for sure

Completely agree with all of this.

5K is my least favorite. By the time I finish, that's usually when I finally start feeling good.

6 easy miles at HR 140. Felt good.

My Foot Collective stuff came in yesterday. Will try a foot workout with it this AM. Plan on adding a stability/foot workout per week.

Crescent City Classic is worth checking out for a 10k. Only thing is it’s tough for out of towners because it’s always the Saturday before Easter. Fun race, great support, and has real racers but also just as much people making a pub crawl of it. Love the CCC.

The Foot Collective stability work was humbling this AM. Thought I had done a lot to strengthen my feet and improve my stability. I was wrong.
