Didn’t feel as good as last year and finished with basically the same time. Been a long week and didn’t sleep much last night. Decent performance, but looking forward to the Ross Bridge 8K now. Then, I need to pick a winter half marathon.

Easy 13.5 this AM. Think I’m done with group long runs. Everyone runs too hard. Did the first ten miles at HR 130. Did the last 3.5 at HR 142. Had a couple of water stops and drank plenty of fluids.

That's on you for running with whom I assume was Scott and Maureen lol (I couldn't be there this morning)

Got my 10 in - my average HR was 153

5.25miles 1hour this evening in 95 degrees.
Decided to run a 5k and a half marathon this year to give me something to work towards and make me get out the chair and crank out some steps for.

I think threshold runs and speed work is group for groups. Base runs are best solo.

I'm a solo runner more than anything else, but my long runs are best with company. I hate anything over 7 miles solo, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm going to be miserable, I would prefer to be miserable with company

Good stuff man! Good luck on your running journey, just remember everyone is different and just getting out there and doing it means you are doing more than most Americans

Got over my wounded puppy mentality and am back running again. Only doing 30ish minutes a pop right now but got 40ish (6 miles) in yesterday. Just focusing on getting in a groove again.

Yesterday was WET. I can't remember sweating that much after a summer run.

3 miles easy. HR 130. 3 miles threshold. HR 160. Hot and humid, but avoided the rain.

Thanks man, everyone has different triggers and motivators mine has always been hunting. I want to hunt till I’m dead.
Buddy of mine at work helped me put together a training plan for an upcoming 5k, only have a couple of weeks to work on it but still felt better working towards something than just running.
Ran speed drill yesterday evening 1min 100% 2min-recovery for 5 sets.
Ran overal 1.7m in 18min.

Spent a week in Tennessee and having morning temps around 65-70 was great! The hills on the other hand, not so great. Did a few hikes with the family as well and really enjoyed them.
Made the mistake of not looking up sunrise and tried to go for a run around 5:30AM, well that was a nope as sunrise was around 6:20AM. Not knowing the area I ended up just waiting a while lol.
Unrelated run story from this week. I run with my dog in the mornings, and as dogs sometimes do, mine had a restroom stop. I picked it up and when I passed in front of my house I just threw the bag in my yard while I made another lap. Well, a lady driving by saw this and decided to question me about it. Conversation while running went like this:
Lady: Did you just throw trash in that yard?
Me: Yes....
Lady: YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!!!!!
Me: It is my yard and I have another lap to make.
Lady: Ugh... fine. Proceeds to speed down the road.

Fun times!

One summer 5k under the belt on Saturday. I have cut back running some in the heat and have been focusing on the gym.

80F at start
23:49 chip time
7:29
7:33
7:57

I fell apart at mile 2.5. No records set. But the goal was to push it from the start to see what I could do in the heat.

Goal for the running year (though April, 2025) is 5k 21:00 and 10k 44:00.
PR's are 5k 22:42/7:18 and 10k 45:40/7:22. Same race on 4/6/2024.

Did a progressive run tonight. 1 mile at HR 130, 2 miles at HR 140, 2 miles at HR 160, and 1 mile back at HR 145.

It’s hot. And the hills suck.

ETA: 1 HR cross training yesterday. Jump rope at HR 125, barefoot.

My treadmill is uncalibrated and it kind of drives me insane. I tried doing 3x5min @ threshold yesterday and it was WAY too hard. Ended up going outside and was hitting 30 seconds faster per mile than the treadmill was reading and at a lower RPE. I'll probably keep using the treadmill for easy runs based on time and do my workouts outside.

Shins were slightly hurting from run a couple days ago.
Rucked 3 miles with 30lbs doing burpees and air squats at each turn ~.25 miles spent 47mins in zone 2 .
Gonna lay off the runs for a couple of days to try and let the shins rest.

Something must be wrong with me or the way I run. I start to jog and it's instant 160bpm. This time of year, average 175 even if I slow down.

This heat makes it hard to keep my HR down. My zone 2 effort generally include some walking. Especially if there are hills.

Overslept this AM and didn’t get out until 830AM. It’s fricking hot out there damn.

Did 10 miles at HR 142. Last two miles were a struggle just due to the heat. Loaded up on water and LMNT.

How does the heat impact your pace if running by HR? First two miles at a 930 pace. Last two miles at a 13 pace. I can’t wait for winter to see what my pace looks like.
