Nice dude!

So I think starting this week I'm switching up my training:

Mondays I'm going to hit the pool and do laps for 45-50 minutes
Tuesdays - Intervals / Speed Work
Wednesday - Maybe Swim again as well, maybe yoga, maybe rowing, not sure yet
Thursday - Mid-week long run (7-13 miles depending on the week and availability) easy
Friday - Recovery, milage adder (5-13 miles) easy (I will also be doing a 20 miler on Friday night at least once during the training, and turning around and doing at least 22 the next morning)
Saturday - Long Run with Pace miles (Depending on where I am over the next 7 months on my 100 miler training, 13 - 50 miles) I will add pace *Marathon Pace* miles to equal 20% depending on the week and milage.
Sunday - Recovery Run

----

I am also reserving the right to turn Friday into a Pool day with laps depending on how my body is feeling on any respective week.

After going through the Sports Hernia, I'm cross training more and going to try active recovery more than just "sit on my butt" recovery .

I'll be at Peavine, will be at the Beach during the Retro Run (I would have been working the water stop for Retro anyways)

So in a strange turn of events - I will not be doing Peavine anymore. I did a test run up that road today and it was awful, absolutely awful. I'm still healing up from my injury and the last thing I need is to be "racing" that hill down, the grade on it is just enough that if I'm running along with other people I'm going to push myself way to hard and end up back at square 1 on recovery. I will just run up there a lot this summer (already have been) and enjoy my recovery as much as possible.

This is kinda a different thing for me - I have never stepped back from something I signed up for, this will be a first. (and I'm actually glad I realize my weaknesses, which is that competitive nature that will kick in the second I'm out there July 4th)

About to step out into the 101 oven and do a 30 min tempo run. Told my Tuesday night group that they were on their own. No way I was leading a group in this crap.

Hate to hear about the injury. I have to work on the 5th. Sucks.

Ran a mixed interval workout from my 80/20 plan tonight. It was fun. X mins zone 2, then X mins zone 5, then X mins zone 2, then X mins zone 4, etc, etc.

It was fun and different. Reinforces my notion that I’m not a sprinter. Going from zero to 100% is not fun. A slow build to 100% feels so much better.

5 miles for 38' of gain? Damn.

I ran the flattest course I can run near the house. 5 miles for 165' of gain. Most of my efforts are between 300-1200' of gain.

Damn, that's it? those are rookie numbers. 8 miles yesterday with 2500', 10 miles tuesday with 4700' and it was an out and back.

its western states 100 day, should be out there but hopefully get another shot at it in the next couple of years.

at mile 10 women's leader was technically ahead of jim Walmsley's course record pace. with 10-15 men ahead of that. crazy fast so far

I'm going to hit my highest mileage week since the kid was born, probably around 20 miles. That's a big win for me Hopefully I can do a few sharpening workouts and get back in shape. It's hot as hell

Wow. Almost off the front page! Guess you pussies aren’t running?

Did three zone 2 miles to warm up. 128HR and a 12:20 pace. Then followed up with three zone 3 miles at a 141HR and an 11:00 pace. Peavine Falls is this Thursday. Looking forward to another brutal 15K.

You were looking strong out there!! (I was chilling at the top when you came through)

I ended up running it because 1. I paid for it so why not 2. I needed to run today anyways 3. Might as well run in the early morning with water already provided.

I had fun though, walked when I needed to and chilled at the aid stations and just had fun.

The heat was absolutely miserable today, glad I was taking it easy

ETA: and of course I get a call as I'm getting ready to hang out that the 2 year old has vomited 3 times already this morning... So I didn't get to hang out and get a beer
