For the first time in the history of the #BM100, 4 runners are on loop five. laz is concerned this will cause people not to apply next year, as they will perceive the course to be too easy.

Looks like they had 3 finishers this year. Need to watch the Netflix doc on this. Insane race.

Monday:
8 miles at 6:47/mile

Tuesday:
2 mile warm up
10k tempo at 6:10 (fought the Kansas wind a good chunk of the run and honestly didn’t feel great)
1 mile cool down

Wednesday:
7 miles easy (7:45ish pace)

Thursday:
8 miles at 6:50ish

Friday:
Mile warmup
Speed pyramid: 200,400,600,800,1k,1200,1600 (all meters) then back down. Averaged 5:27 through the whole workout. Got the mile rep in at 5:47.
Mile cool down

Today: 13.5 mile long run (getting ready to head out here in a bit). Goal is to be 7:15ish through the whole run. Starting easy for recovery then working into a good pace by the end. Got 12 at 7:25 last week dicking around with a buddy most of the run so I’m hoping being by myself and more focused can spur a bit more speed earlier.

About 7 weeks out from my first half starting to feel some strength coming in especially with yesterday’s workout. Hope is still to be as close to 6:00 pace as I can be.

Garmin Forerunner 945 here. I’ve had it for 3 years and plan on getting another whenever this one bites the dust.

Forerunner 245, no complaints. When/if it dies I might replace with a Coros.

Jordon;

I have coros apex pro 2, can't say i love can't say i hate it. battery lasts forever. struggling to determine if gps is accurate, but this may be with all watches. Rhea has suunto 9 and we can ran exact same route together and they are always different. I've even worn my old suunto and the coros at same time and they were different by almost 0.2 miles over 8 mile run.

Garmin 245. I switched when I lost my 235. It's a better interface and the music option is nice to have. I use Amazon Music Unlimited because it's cheaper than Spotify. Works really well, just need to make sure it's updated periodically before you go and run because it may need to do so before music plays.

I haven’t read reviews on the Forerunner 255, but seems like Garmin got it up to speed with the Coros. Would consider that one as well, but Coros for $200 is hard to pass up.

I have a Samsung watch, 3 I think. Strava works on it, and I use the Samsung Health app to track a few other types of workouts.

I have the Garmin 255. The HR monitor is spot on with my polar strap. I've done quite a few test comparisons and the avg HR and Max is usually the same HR. I compared intervals of 5 mins and its always +/- 1 bpm or identical.

Did my first trail run this weekend. Almost 8 miles on what I'd consider to be a very technical course in places. Ran in my new Vivo Primus Trail Knits. This was significantly harder than I had anticipated. Hats off to those that do this frequently.

I was impressed with the Vivo's. I didn't slip or lose footing at all. Also, the sole definitely protected my foot compared to my normal minimal footwear. My feet general feel well worked after a run in the minimal shoes, but even more so after this run.

I'm going to try and work one trail in per week.

Anyone keep up with the Boston Marathon? This year has a solid race field and a chance to beat the course record. Race is April 17 and ESPN is providing full coverage if I understood the article correctly. Cant recall if this new or has happened the last few years or not. It will also mark the 10 year anniversary of bombing.
Thats a day that haunts my dreams from time to time. I thank Jesus often for two things that happened that day. First thing, I had to use the restroom around mile 15 ish that took just long enough for me not be on Boylston St. Secondly and more importantly my wife ended up getting a pass to be on the grandstand side of the finish line instead of the general viewing area. Made for some long hours until I was able to reach her.
