I have a road bike I used occasionally for cross training or when injured but I hate it lol. I’ll eventually get back to it!
BTW, before this happened I registered for the Baton Rouge Fat Boy 5k. Anyone need a bib lol?

Damn man I admire your persistence with staying with it. I would’ve thrown in the towel after the AFib

Officially signed up for the prarie fire half in Wichita may 7th. This’ll be my first race longer than 10k. Training was a bit all over the place the last few weeks due to a small injury and getting sick but have gotten back into a normal routine. I’ve set a hard goal of maintaining sub 6 pace and a soft goal of sub 1:16 if I can hit a good enough ramp up on intensity these next few weeks. Gonna put down 12 tomorrow which will put me at 50 for the week.
Monday: off
Tuesday: 10 minute warmup
8 x 3 minute efforts, 1 min walk 2 min jog between each. Kept between 5:30-5:50 pace for each effort
5 min cooldown (8 miles total)
Wednesday: 6 miles recovery
Thursday: 10 mile moderate long run (about 7:15 pace average with some harder efforts toward the end)
Friday: mile warmup
3 x 2 mile tempo builds w/ 4 minute jog recovery. Maintained at least 6:20 effort the whole way through with the last one right under 12:00.
Mile cool down (8 mile (plus change with the jog recovery) total)
Saturday: 6 recovery
Sunday: 12 miles (hope is to be sub 7 average with trying to test the last 3-4 miles but we’ll see how my legs are feeling)

Thats what the ER doctors wanted me to do. Said it was to dangerous to get into long distance running again. At this point for my mental well being I have to get back to it lol.
Also, the cardio doctors staff told me there was no way he could see me before surgery and I would have to push it back. I was like oh hell no! Maybe a dick move, but I sent him a PM on FB asking to see someone else in his practice. Got a call about a hour later to see if I could come in today.

Sorry to hear that.
I'm on the shelf for some unforeseen amount of time right now. Couple of weeks ago felt like I had a sore back after some lifting. Two weeks later it has just gotten worse. Thought it was muscle related so got some muscle relaxers. That did nothing.
Got an x-ray today and result was:
"Only muscle spasm identified of right paraspinal spine. No bone lumbar abnormality identified."
Now I'm going back to my PCP. No idea what to do at this point. Can't stand up straight. Sharp pains when I'm moving. General tightness everywhere.

I think not having a answer and solution to the problem may be more frustrating. Hope you get it figured out soon and back to it soon!

PCP says it is just muscle related and nothing major. I was directed to 6 weeks of PT and given more muscle relaxers. If not better by then, they would order an MRI.
Going to get another opinion from a local PCP that specializes in sports medicine. He was medical director for the Sugar Land Skeeters so I'm hoping to get a little more of an explanation or just validate what I've already heard.
I hate PT and can't imagine having to do it 6 weeks and still not be any better.

Back from knee surgery. Apparently things were a little worse than the MRI indicated, so recovery may be a little longer/slower to progress. Hope to back at it soon.

Hope everything goes well and you can get back to it.
Been pretty consistent the last few weeks. Running the St. Patrick's Day 2 mile in Metairie this weekend as a qualifier for the CCC corrals and as a barometer for my fitness. I have no idea what shape I'm in so I'm going to go out between 6:45 and 7:00 pace and see if that's too fast, too slow, or just right. There's also a 13mph tailwind projected on my weather app so that might change things

What’s the 2 mile qualifying time for Corral A and B?
I qualified at the Corporate Classic 5k, corral C I think. I’ll probably find a way to run the CCC but my job will always be in the way of racing it. Try to use it as a fitness barometer coming off being stagnant for a month or two.

Sub 10:50 for A, 10:51-12:25 for B.
I only need a sub 16 because I have friends running in the D corral so barring like a torn hamstring or alien invasion there's really no losing. I would like to get a good idea of what I'm capable of though.

I say go for it! Can always start in corral D regardless. I did that last year.

Without self doxxing, I ran a good race for myself. Earlier in the week I had it in my head to run a 7 min first mile then see what that left me in the second half. Kind of on a whim I decided to go through at 6:45 instead, and still had enough left to negative split. Less than a month until the CCC so I'm right back to work this week

The Barkley Marathon started after 9AM today. The only coverage that’s decent is posted on Twitter by @keithdunn if you’re interested in following along.
So far 25 runners have finished the first loop.

My left hamstring is killing me when running. Doesn’t really bother me otherwise, and I can even lift weights (deadlift, squats, cleans, etc).
Safe to assume I just need to stop running and lifting for a while?

5 runners are on loop 4. That’s wild. Hoping we get multiple finishers this year.
Jared Campbell pulled out after loop 3 due to injury. That would have been 6.

For the first time in the history of the #BM100, 4 runners are on loop five. laz is concerned this will cause people not to apply next year, as they will perceive the course to be too easy.
