They were still in decent shape considering the mileage. I am 6’ 1” and 183 pounds or so.

Thanks all for the feedback on the endorphin speeds. I think I will likely give it a go.
I want to say I read/watched a couple reviews mentioning they were a bit too firm if you run below a certain pace, and even my tempo days are well below that pace. Lol, and that the speed was a bit more forgiving with the nylon plate. But I might just order both, try them on, and make a decision that way.

Know you didn’t specifically mention it, but have you checked out the Endorphin Pro 2? I like those for speed work & for half marathon/10k/5k races. Perhaps they could work well for what you’re looking for in a tempo shoe?

Ran my second 5k of the week today. Been under the weather with sinus stuff so it sucked but was necessary. I’m not much of a distance runner - always lifted weights and was a sprinter in high school so distance is always a challenge to me. I’ve been doing CrossFit for about a year but now that the weather is cooling off and work is a little busier I decided I would save some cash and time by running for my exercise over the next couple of months.
Currently running in the new NB fresh foam 1080v2 and they’re awesome. I’m normally an ASICS guy but I haven’t been too impressed with their last couple of Nimbus iterations so I decided to give NB a try and don’t regret it.

My understanding is that each individual code is one time use, but that you can get some number of codes per month.
I see. I used it January 2021 with my wife’s work credentials. Might try again for some Novablast 3’s.

I’m 6’1” and 180, and I don’t keep shoes much past 300 except for walking around.
I don’t run that much though. I just barely hit 1000 miles for the year this week.

You consider this not running much? I don't consider myself some kind of ultra mileage runner but I run about 1,200 to 1,250 miles a year and that seems to be a decent amount. I made 900 miles today.

Ran my first race in a year today. A local 5K. Little hilly for a fast time, but managed a 24 min finish which was my goal. IT Band is still tightening up, but at least it’s after the race now and not during. Finished 14th overall and 3rd in my age group. Next confirmed race is an 8K in Dec.

I’ve always just ran in whatever tennis shoes I had at the time and had never bought a decent pair of dedicated running shoes until my recent Novablast 3 purchase — well I had my first run (4 miles) in them this morning and wow what a difference. Really enjoyable run, pace was nearly 45 seconds/mile quicker than what I had been running and I felt less tired at the end. Pretty crazy. I’m sure part of that was just the excitement of getting a new pair of shoes and trying to push it some but it exceeded my expectations for sure
Edit: awesome job Aubie!

Unreal. There’s a guy from Lafayette running the London Marathon this coming Sunday. He’s an absolute beast, some of y’all may know him.

This is mind blowing!
Lithuania’s Aleksandr Sorokin setting a new 24-hour world record of 319.614 kilometers/198.599 miles at the 2022 IAU 24-Hour European Championships in Verona, Italy, on September 17 and 18. That’s 7:15 per mile for 24 straight hours.

Dang. I came here to note my improved pace from 3 weeks ago now that it's 20 degrees cooler when I run, but I think I'll just make that vague statement without stats now.
ETA: I guess going relative is fine. 40 seconds/mile faster. I hate hotness.

Insane pace for 24 hours. Some real freaks out there in the running world.

Dealing with some minor shin splints ~3 weeks out from my first marathon. Any advice for clearing them quickly?

Start here: Tib Raises Body Weight
You can migrate to weighted tib raises if that doesn't resolve it quickly enough. I recommend doing these barefoot or in zero drop shoes.

Just finished my 1st attempt at a 100 miler. Also just got my first ever DNF. 65 miles into the yeti 100 my right hip flexor locked up. Between the extreme slow pace, heading to the top of the mountain with a big temperature drop, and Ian dumping loads of rain and 20+mph winds, I was in a mild state of hypothermia and never left the aid station when I finally reached it.

Still fighting my right hip as well. I’ve done enough ‘pigeon poses’ and ‘cross legged’ stretches to have fixed it by now.
First long run on the 80/20 plan. For as hard as it is to run fast, it might be even harder to run slow. Maintained a 140 HR and averaged between 11-13 min miles.

With my morning run today I just finished my 10k training plan. Any advice/ideas/training programs I should do next?
I guess I’m more interested in running farther than I am faster at this point in time. I don’t really have interest in entering races either at this stage. I have enjoyed implementing hill repeats & tempo runs during this latest training block. It’s been a nice change from the slow and steady runs. I just know I need a specific training plan to follow or I’ll start finding excuses to cut runs short, or put it off a day if I start making it up on the go.
Are there 10mile training plans? Is that a thing? Or do people just jump to half marathon training from a 10k? The half marathon still seems a bit much at this point.

Yeah pretty much everyone jumps from 10k to half marathon with training plans. If you've completed a 10k plan, you are easily fitness ready to begin a half marathon plan.
