A little crisp out in the BR this morning. It’s not a running day for me but I almost went anyway. I hope it holds until Sunday.

A crisp 69 degrees (seriously) here in Orange Beach this morning. Great weather for tempo run minus the headwind coming back

very short little 2 miler this morning at 64. wife and kids left for school and i dawdled too much getting out the door in time to be back for work by 8. felt great!

definitely entered that time of year where i'm looking every day at the forecast for highs in the low 80s or 70s coming up.

i know in my heart of hearts that it's not going to be till late October, but hope springs eternal.

Where I live, the humidity returns Sunday. Oh well, I still enjoyed the heck out of last night and this morning.

Felt good out there this AM. Put in 8 miles at a 9:45 pace. Average HR of 163. Not sure if it’s the temps getting lower or me getting more acclimated, but my 160 HR pace is steadily getting faster.

For those that keep track of their heart rate, do you use a heart rate strap or a watch?

I got a Garmin 245music (which is awesome) a few weeks ago. I had been using a heart rate strap (Garmin HRM-dual) connected to my phone before this. I've continued using the strap to transmit HR data to my watch during runs and bike rides. Today I did a 4 x .5mile interval workout and used the watch and heart rate strap independently.
Watch--
-Average HR--169
-Max HR--192 (it was hot and I have a high max HR)

Strap--
-Average HR--167
-Max HR--191

I've spot-checked different points on the graphs, and the watch and strap seem to be within 2 beats of each other at all times. Have optical HR monitors come this far? I used to have an old Garmin 405, and I remember it was very inaccurate. With only a 1-2 bpm difference, I think I'm going to ditch the strap and only use the watch from now on.

I’ve only ever used the strap type. My cardiologist seemed to think that most were pretty accurate.

ETA: Put in a couple of miles in the Xero sandals today. One mile on the Astro turf and one on the street. They will take some getting used to, but I’ll start wearing them on one run a week.

I use a strap and if for some reason the strap decides it is taking the day off, I ignore the HR on my wrist. On an easy run, my HR stays around 145-150 via the strap. If I only use my watch it will read 160 after 5 mins. I just don't trust it.

Just ran this AM. Decided on 4 miles and ran in the Xero Clouds. This will take some getting used to. There is no heel striking in these shoes. I could feel my form changing.

In keeping with Saturday's theme, I'm getting faster with the 160 HR pace. Unsure what the cause is. I suspect it's the lower temps. I paced at 8:40/mile with an average HR of 157. Compared to my 4 mile run on Aug 18th which was paced at 9:56/mile and average HR of 158. A 1:30/mile improvement in 30 days.

First post-covid run on Sunday felt good. Had no idea what to expect so I just decided on a timed run instead of distance goal. 20 Minute run and got in just over two miles with heart rate avg 154. Trying to get myself ready for 8k next Saturday. Hopefully I am not running in the rain the rest of the week.

Not sure if you are asking about the run or covid so I will answer both.

Run-felt really good to be active. Breathing during and after felt completely normal. Heart rate was right around where is always is when I run. Energy was pretty normal.

Covid- Had one night of fever and aches. Lack of energy for 3-4 days with 2 days of it being extremely tired. (I was chasing a 2 year old around though so rest wasn't really in the cards.) I never lost taste or smell but had no appetite at all and had to force myself to eat once I realized I lost 9 pound in the first three days which I imagine contributed to the fatigue.

Overall it was not bad for me fortunately and I only took vitamins and never really had a cough.

Thing is weird for sure though because my wife who has never exercised a day in her life bounced back even quicker than I did and I resistance train 3-4 days a week and run 2-3 days a week.

Hopefully. I'm using the next week to see how my legs feel. I've never run longer than 5K race but was running a lot prior to being sick. Gonna see if I can work up to 4-5 mile run this weekend and if I feel good, I'll run it. Toughest part is going to be convincing the wife that I am okay to run it.

You're just luckier I guess, lol. Seriously though, I've started the process to get the frick out of the south. I'm too old to be miserable for most the year in heat and humidity. "If you don't like it then get out" Well, I'm getting out.
