Sure was nice in Bham on Saturday morning. Put in 13 miles with my run group at a 9 minute pace my best to date. Slight change in form and the cooler temps really helped.

Felt great this morning. Got my 8 in and I’m not drenched.

Got my longest run ever in yesterday on the Monkey Trails outside of Shreveport. 20 miles, felt great. Legs got super heavy at 17 but I just put my head down and grinded. 4 hours and some change.

I had 15 on my mind, but my baw was set for 20. I felt awesome after 10 so I figured Id just go ahead and do it.

Training for the 50k out there in November.

I did 12 today after 8 yesterday with no real goal in mind. I had a super rare run where I didn't stop my watch once. Not for water, not for gels, not to wait for traffic. Weather was great with temps between 45° and 55° during the run. Only downside is that I've had to put the tarp back on these last two days. I've really enjoyed going shirtless this summer.

I’m holding out on putting the shirt back on as long as possible. Really hard to go back once you get used to being without it.

10 this am for 3rd straight 30+ mile week; training going pretty good at the right time, weather wise. Neither base nor speed are where I want them to be, but working to get there. Thinking I will join y'all for MGC 1/2. Piecing together my 12 week plan now, starting tomorrow. Got the Northshore 10K and whatever else in between.

Rsande63,

I think I’m going to go ahead and sign up for the full. It’s ~4 weeks before Houston but I’m hoping I can convince my brother to run. It would be his first so I could run slow and use it as extra training.

Kballa,

Very nice and it seems like a sure thing for us, something we can't count on in Houston, + I like your idea of extra training.

Based on my Woodlands 2021 (March) plan I might be able to run Mississippi Gulf Coast hard if I'm injury free after White River in Arkansas.

It will be fun to get back down to the area. I have fond memories since I grew up in Breaux Bridge and could scrape up gas money with my friends and they would let you drink & party in the bars even at 16 hahah.

7 miles to recover from the 13 yesterday. Ran on the track at noon and paced way faster than I should have: 9:15. Flat track, fantastic temps, and the constant breeze got to me I guess.

I grew up in Ponchy. My parents used to take me with them for their casino weekends. I can’t remember how many Saturdays I spent at the kids area in the Grand Casino Gulfport and Biloxi. Looking forward to meeting all of you too.

I think it’s time to nuke the Strava. I’ve been getting a few requests for folks to come run with me and I don’t want to sound like a dick but that creates a lot of problems for me.

Typically someone will want to do a run with me but it’ll be at their time and their pace. This does not really give me much of a choice but to decline and look like a dick. I don’t really think people understand that they’re trying to mess with my trining and I really can’t have that.

There’s this misunderstanding that I’m just fast, and not that it took about 8000 miles and countless hours over the last 3 years to accomplish the little I have. It was good while it lasted. Sigh.

If I drop you, or hide my profile, don’t take it personally. Some of you have my number anyway.

Edit: As a matter of fact I’d prefer to communicate via text than that wretched app anyway. If we are not friends on the app but you want to talk shop, send me a line. I’m making this thing private at the end of the week and probably dropping a bunch of followers.

Not that you need it but I support your decision. Strava is voluntary, and if it causes more stress than it's worth then drop it. You're doing awesome with your training. Stick with it.

I don't see myself going down your way for runs or races so I don't expect direct communication, but I hope this doesn't mean the end of your updates here on the Marathon thread or the shoe thread. You provide very useful information and insight into what it takes for many of us to make the leap, including your post here today.

39. How old are you?

Edit just messin. The issue with my Garmin V02 max isn’t my age.

F this rain. I've been trying to get out and run since Sunday afternoon with no luck. Heavy rain and sidewalks are flooded due to road construction. I'm hoping we can get a break in this today.

Yup.

I had some lingering aches and pains so took last week off to rest. Was going to get going again this week but this weather is keeping me in. Might be two weeks off, which is probably better for me anyway.
