My Garmin's projected 5k is slower than the 5K I ran Saturday...it gets worse everytime I do my HR runs.

I use it for GPS & music without putting any faith in the other features.

I don't know what my VO2 Max should be, but I'm consistently at 51 and every once in a while bump up to 52.

Roots,

It is going to be uncomfortable for this cycle and we agree it is what I need.

He understands I didn't run in high school so I've never learned to really run or train hard. I've been way too comfortable & need to physically be able to sustain higher paces once it gets tough.

Basically I thought my 6 miles @ 9:25 were "hard" but they were actually the wrong run with no purpose. They were difficult because they were wrong.

His words --> I'm not going to let you be the typical office guy who has a DNF at mile 21 , after walking, because you didn't push yourself in training.

Nice, dude. Following along for sure. He seems to know what you need. Props on you to sticking with it.

Awesome to hear that. I too feel that I don't push myself on some of those harder runs. I always find a sweet spot and just settle in for the miles.

I've been focusing on making the easy days easy and the hard days hard. Some weeks I see good progress and others I wonder what the hell happened when I can barely sustain a pace on a 5 mile easy route.

Anybody recommend a pre run electrolyte mix with caffeine that isn't loaded with sugar? I typically use Nunn tabs and they fit this bill, but I feel like I could use a little more caffeine. I'd be open to trying something new if anyone has any recs.

You into plyometric workouts?

Whatcha got? When do you squeeze in Plyo with your running (before, after, rest day, etc)?

SEC preview CC meet is happening right now. LSU, A&M, MS, and AR. Watching the results. Arkansas is pretty experienced this year and have a very strong 1-3. I’m curious who steps up in that 4-5 slot. I also wonder if there will be any surprises coming out of LSU, AM. MS. If not, this could be a perfect score opportunity and a confidence booster for Arkansas.

Edit: it’s ole Miss not MS. This is a dual meet then, lol.

20 miles. 3 hours. Not as dead as I though. It was mid 50s out so perfect weather.

It does. I may do 22 in about 3 weeks though to push it a little and get closer to 3:30 which is my unrealistic goal time. I’ve been doing these runs about a minute slower than race pace. Race is Nov 1. May do Oct 31 if weather isn’t permitting which is the nice thing about these virtual races

What’s the consensus of everyone for the Gulf Coast Marathon? How many are planning to run, assuming it goes as planned?

I’ll be there. They seem confident it will happen, though some debate seems to be happening about aid stations and how much will be self supported.

Kballa6,

I'm registered and committed to the half and it will be like 2 weeks after my first full. Just looking to have some fun with a no pressure recovery run.

Can we discuss Triathlons in here?

Side question, what’s the next half marathon in the Greater NO area anyone here plans on doing?
