Yeah Roots, Patrick nailed it. If not Eureka, Bentonville. Fayetteville is no longer king in NWA.

LSUP Threshold is the pace or steady state, the GAP puts it at vO2 max. For instance I’m hitting the repeats at roughly quicker than marathon pace, but the grade puts it at a 4:50s mile pace. This is a pretty advanced workout so I don’t use it for transitioning. The speed 2s are actually around the same effort on flat ground but naturally will be a true 4:40s 4:50s.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll shelf it until I train for a longer distance. After your explanation, it seems like it might be good when sharpening for a half or full marathon, particularly for maximizing the final kick after being prefatigued.

Damn 3nOut, that sucks dude. Hate to hear it. Heat related or something bigger, ya think? I've got something going on with my upper right quad. Don't think it's anything major, just a knot. The lacrosse ball seems to help, just need to make it a priority to do it. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks LSUP and BRM, Eureeka looks like our speed.

Nah. Just out of shape. Covid wrecked my running schedule not helped it. I’m trying to get back in the swing of things.

In 4 years of running I have never had an instance where my legs just stopped running and I had to walk home

I’ve done that when a poop hit me hard. Had to stand still for about 5 minutes then start gingerly limping back home.

That's a tough sell mid August in the South.

it is indeed.

i did a seven mile trail run last week (plenty of breaks.) there was a very nice, but bit chubby guy that came along for his first time doing a trail run. i took the duty upon myself to make sure he didn't get lost in the back.

Legit almost got hit by a car on my run just now.

Was crossing a stop sign intersection. Lady who was stopped only looked 1 way instead of both ways and hit the gas as I was crossing directly in front of her car. Luckily, she heard me screaming at her.

Easily the closest call I've had.

I had a close call like this. Now I only cross the road if I make eye contact.

I always assume the driver is on their phone and would plow through an intersection. It seems like that's becoming the norm.

Do any of y'all have regular/annual bloodwork done? My liver enzymes AST (45) and ALT (46) were elevated on bloodwork I had done last week.

I'm now aware of numerous reports that strenous exercise can elevate these levels in plasma for up to a week. Obviously alcohol could be a factor (I have around 10-12 beers on avg a week), but just curious if any other runners have seen this show up on their labwork. The day before I had a rather strenous day, with a short tempo run followed by a 21 miles bike ride. And of course the almost daily stress of summertime running in the heat.

I just got these results yesterday and will be consulting with my Doc, but figured I'd throw it out here in the meantime.

I get blood work annually. The only thing that has come back of any note is that sometimes I'll be slightly anemic. Follow up always comes back fine though.

I'm slightly anemic due to thalassemia. I never noticed before, even when I was competing in track and XC. Yearly bloodwork, never had elevated enzymes though. Keep an eye on it.

My husband had pretty much those exact numbers last year. We exercise 6 days a week (running and strength training). He's had some elevation off and on for 10 years. He's a physician and chalked it up to the exercising but had a liver ultrasound anyway and it was fine. This year they were high again so his PCP wants him to see a gastro.

Yes but not excessively. He rarely drinks during the week but has wine and a couple of cocktails over a weekend.

Roots,

My wife laughed and said congrats on not having hepatitis haha.

She said not to stress or jump on Google, listen to your physician, and don't forget to mention any supplements you take.

Her patients are older have multiple issues so this barely high result would be one of the last things she would educate on during a visit but she would not ignore it either.
