I’m almost as new to this as your are, but that doesn’t look bad. You probably want to add those 5 mile runs in and maybe a little longer leading up to the race, except for the last week before the race. One of the more experienced runners may provide a whole lot better info.

Two miles in 15:36 today. Fastest two mile time ever. I pushed myself some today. I think I’ll treat my Tuesday two-milers as speed work for the rest of my four weeks of half marathon training. I’m not sure if that’s smart, so I welcome input from all ye learned running gurus.

Three miles tomorrow. Hopefully the rain stays away!

I’m supposed to go nine on Saturday but that ain’t happening

Appreciate it Broroccoli Brobama.

I don’t think it will hurt to make my schedule go
5-2-3-Long run for the next four weeks. I just wanna be ready to run the half!

I don’t think you’ll have any issues adding a mile or two and it will have no impact on your freshness. Personally, I’d add the mileage on the 2 mile day or add another day altogether if I was doing a mileage bump, but what do I know?

So for the next four weeks:
M-TU-W-SA
4-3-4-10
4-3-4-11
4-3-4-12
4-3-0-13.1 (race)

Each three mile run is for time. I will try and beat my time from the previous week rather than run just to get it the mileage in.

Thanks, Burt.

NP. It's still pretty early for y'all and you're going to PR on miles alone. You're pretty lucky to be in that stage where you don't really have do be regimented, just disciplined into getting out there consistently. A lot of your runs are still based on feel. Hell, all of my runs except my workouts are feel. I digress...

“The World’s Toughest Foot Race”

Covering 135 miles (217km) non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA, the Badwater® 135 is the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet. The start line is at Badwater Basin, Death Valley, which marks the lowest elevation in North America at 280’ (85m) below sea level. The race finishes at Whitney Portal at 8,300’ (2530m), which is the trailhead to the Mt. Whitney summit, the highest point in the contiguous United States. The Badwater 135 course covers three mountain ranges for a total of 14,600’ (4450m) of cumulative vertical ascent and 6,100’ (1859m) of cumulative descent. Competitors travel through places or landmarks with names like Mushroom Rock, Furnace Creek, Salt Creek, Devil’s Cornfield, Devil’s Golf Course, Stovepipe Wells, Panamint Springs, Darwin, Keeler, Lone Pine, Alabama Hills, and the Sierra Nevada.

The 43rd edition will take place Monday-Wednesday, July 6-8, 2020.

This certainly sounds like a bitch. Good luck!

Going to be a cold, wet run tonight. I usually avoid doing up tempo workouts in the rain but I’m going to try and stay on schedule and get it in.

Badwater is the one ultra that I have no desire to run

Good luck though! I’m sure it will be an incredible experience no matter how it turns out.

Congrats KS! That's one you can tell the Grandkids about. I guess treadmill work does pay off...

I'll be following along for sure; I saw where Walker H. from BR got in again also.

I said the same thing when i first heard about it but then i went out there as a crew/pacer for a good friend and prospective changed. The place is bizarre and sucks you in making you want to take on the challenge. I'm by no means an elite runner but this race will get 100% from me. I've got a standup crew going with me and my GF will be running it as well. Lot of training miles to come with Boston mixed in. The dumbest thing i did was sign up for Superior 100 which is 9 weeks after BW135, but gotta keep my western states lottery qualifier going. in the coming months if you're looking for long run miles let me know.

So you basically run up and down mountains for 3 days straight?
