I did this last night and HATED it. I'd rather run in the rain. Not sure I'll ever do this again unless I have absolutely no other choices.

Anyone doing the Mercedes Marathon this weekend in Birmingham? I decided I wasn't really ready for the half this year, but will try it next year. No doubt I could finish it, but I want to have a respectable time.

I’m looking for some light weight rain gear for running. I have a northface that’s good running when it’s super cold (worked well in the snow last weekend) but I’m looking for something to wear when it’s in the 40’s and wet. Anybody have any suggestions?

Always heard the Patagonia Houdini is great and you may be able to grab it on sale right now too.

RunnersWorld just released a list of light, weather proof jackets they recommend. LINK

I have a hooded Puma windbreaker that’s pretty good and a full zip Adidas jacket I snagged for $40 at Marshall’s.

Something didn’t feel right about my time last night (2 miles in 17:55). It is by far my slowest time (about 30 seconds/mile slower than any other run I’ve timed). I google mapped my route and it was 2.3 miles rather than 2.0, so that’s good. Guess I got some extra work in.

I tried to run on a treadmill Monday and it was a fricking nightmare. It felt like my legs were about to run out from under me and the treadmill says I was running at a 11:30 pace. I made it 1.25 and rolled tf out.

my wife on a whim bought me a northface rain jacket that has been money.

it's not warm at all but it's just stretchy and breathable enough to fit a hoodie under if it's cold and it's lightweight enough to wear for warm rainy days. i'll see if i can find a similar model.

looks like an older iteration of this.

This adidas jacket has served me well for light to medium rain. The hood has a little adjustable elastic band to keep it in place and my head dry.

Jacket

35 bucks.

Yeah Burt, that’s a steal. Just can’t decide if I need a S or M. Those damn 6’1” models in a medium always throw me off!

We’re the same weight but you’re broader up top, dunno. Small was perfect for me.

Yeah, agreed. Most of my upper body stuff is M, so went with that. Cool; thanks for the link.

Skipped my 3 miler today because I had post-work beers after a long arse three days. Frankly, I’m tired AF.

Hope to dominate eight miles Saturday. Hope y’all running fast AF

Ran a mile warm up and made it through (2) 800 meter sprints. Called it quits. Just didn’t feel right. I’m taking a couple of days off before my 10 mile group run on Saturday.
Icing everything down, drinking beer, watching basketball.

Weather and work schedule prevented me from getting my run in today. Guess I’ll be doubling up tomorrow.

i haven't posted much lately because i haven't run much lately. just a busy schedule, with kids and work, but i wanted to take a moment to boast to some fellow "athletes."

my schedule has been pretty full of running kids to their games and practice lately. my 10 year old has always been what i would call "an above average athlete" in that he has pretty good success in everything he does. he's got a sub 23 5k and 50:00 10k. he's always been pretty dadgum good at flag football and was the MVP for the city league. he just started upward baskethball (which is a pox upon basketball) but has turned that into a few double double games. if you've ever watched upward, you know that's an impressive feat.

we got an email today from the leader of the city league asking if we would be interested in him representing us for a tournament in dallas. more than a couple of coaches said he was their first pick. he's going to get to play in a statewide tournament at Cowboys stadium and I think that's pretty damn cool.

I've always thought he was pretty good, but i'm not crazy thinking that a 10 year old is NFL talent or anything, but it's really awesome that other coaches he's played against picked him against the rest of a 200k metro area to represent.

i'm just drunk in Vegas right now but the whole thing was a pretty surreal moment and i haven't been able to share it with anybody because i'm far away from home.

forgive the drunken ramblings of a proud father.

I hate traveling with co-workers. The thought of anyone doing any physical fitness blows their mind. I did what I could this week.

And I have people at the gym

2 people on both squat racks this morning...taking a 5 minute break between each of their 6 sets(wtf???) to play on the phone.

Get the shite on with it already!

This your way of calling TR short?

Felt a knot in my calf midway through last night's 5 mile run. Still managed to finish in a decent pace, but it's bothering me today. Guess this is an excuse to take a few more days off.

Going to shoot for 9 on Sunday. Slow and easy, though, like my 6 miler on Thursday. I'm still dealing with blisters from the 1/2 on Sunday and I came down with some virus yesterday. I think it's wearing off now, but I still feel pretty shitty.

I’ve still been slacking with my running. The weather has made it more difficult to get outside at 5 am, but I could have done it. I did manage to get 4 miles on yesterday despite it being 1 degree, but I could tell my fitness has been dwindling. I’m getting at least 3 runs in this weekend come hell or high water.
