I follow the Birmingham Ultra group on FB, but haven’t run any of their races yet. They have a regular run at Moss Rock that I will start doing once it starts staying light again. I’m not trail running in the dark.

I’m running the Birmingham Track Club 15K in April. I don’t know much about them.

Vacation Races

Stumbled across this today. Anyone done these before? The Grand Teton Half Marathon looks freaking incredible

Grand Teton does look awesome.

Once I found out about this, I've wanted to go and run the Bermuda Marathon. The race is typically on MLK Jr weekend and I thought it would be a nice way to escape the cold of winter for a bit.

I have a cousin that lives in Bermuda. Might be time to go see her.

Bermuda Marathon

Bermuda just doesn't scream good Marathon conditions to me. I get it; but it sounds miserable.

My calves are sore as hell from running in the snow yesterday. I usually take Monday's off, but I did an easy 2 miles just to get some blood flowing to my sore muscles and tendons.

That was my first reaction, but I think Bermuda is far enough north that the weather is decent this time of year. Certainly looks more predictable than most of Florida

When I pulled up the link that was posted and saw the runners all of a sudden this un-breathable stickiness came over me, haha.

any of you baws dealt with knee tendonitis? I'm sure some have. I've been dealing with what i assume is tendonitis from overuse but haven't had any swelling. I can hear it groaning and creaking and it feels like the tendons directly to the side of the kneecap are about to snap like a rubber band. Do those symptoms check out? How long will I be recovering? I got prescribed an anti inflammatory but it hasnt improved much. Needless to say I can't run on it which sucks.

2 weeks to go until my first race of the year. Going 4 months between an event has sucked.

I can’t diagnose you but if it’s only sore during exercise, that’s “runners knee” and I have personally successfully trained through it. If it is always sore and the pain gets significantly worse during activity, you just need to go see a doctor and reduce activity until you get a proper diagnosis.

Do you mean on the outside of the knee or above/below the knee cap?

No, but I need a race in the LA area in Mar/Apr. I may look into this.

On another note, I feel way under prepared for Houston on Sunday.

more so outside of the knee towards the inner leg. Not right above the kneecap. It's not just during exercise either, just walking around it gets like that. I had been doing a lot of lateral movement/cardio exercises fwiw.

Based on the location of the pain and the additional symptoms of creaking and catching, it sounds like it could be a meniscus or plica injury. There a few other things it could be, but that is the most likely based on your limited description. I'd go get it checked out.

Might.

I've already signed up for the Hattiesburg Half on 4/4, and 2 races within 2 weeks is asking a lot of me. But that would make 5 halves for the season so far, and 3 this year. (Rock n' Roll NO is on 2/9).

5 minute warmup (easy pace); 4 X 30 seconds at moderate pace (~ current marathon pace) separated by 5 minutes of easy running; 5 minute cool down. From there, you can increase the length of the intervals (by 10 seconds) and/or the number of intervals for a few weeks.

I did this one today and it kind of kicked my arse. I made it though. I think I was too pumped up and my moderate pace was more like 90% effort. Still felt good after but it drained me for a bit.

That's my goal for Rock n' Roll, but a 1 year old that carries home every virus known and unknown to man and the holidays have kicked my arse. My two so far this season were 2:06 and 2:03.
