So Burt... What's the odds of a runner like you and a jogger like me getting together sometime in 2020? I'm pretty flexible you know. We can run somewhere in between, like BR.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you just asked me out.

Dunno, you plan on seeing any games next year? I haven't really picked out any fall races yet other than NYC if they take me. I'm looking at possibly doing a marathon in May to gauge what I need to be running at New York.

Haha! Fairly certain those days may be over!

Burt - Not in May and not a Marathon but any interest in coming down for the CCC in early April? Mix it up with some East Africans? I think that’s the race I’ll target as my first back. The timeline seems to work, barring any setbacks.

I am about to make the switch to Garmin from Apple Watch as well. My Birthday is in a couple of weeks and will most likely get the 245 music version.

Depends on if I have a shot at the Run Bentonville Race Series title. The Half is worth double points which kind of fricks it up for everyone. Plus I got a taste of running quick in gulf coast early April weather today at home (65, 100% humidity) and I did not care for it.

It's about time for a 2020 running goal thread or at least post string, isn't it?

Anyone get any running goodies from Santa?

My parents gave us a combined $1k that I get to keep $100 of.

I’ll do some shopping with that. I’m about to go assemble a basketball goal so I may not be running for a few days.

I have a pair of brooks and a pair of adidas with about 100 each on them so I don’t need any new shoes right now but the random Ross/Marshall’s trip can change that. My Cascadias are at 200+ but they’ve taken a beating this year so I’ll probably get some new trail shoes this spring.

I was trying to stay humble, but figured I would point out that I did post a much better time than you at that last half.

Not sure if that was ever the case, but you certainly put us in your rearview since then.

My main goal for 2019 was consistency over results. I had not ran through an entire 12 month period is quite a few years. I wanted to fall back in love with the sport, and focus on advancing my training over the next several years. I'm going to really try and calculate out my runs better in 2020. A few more tempo runs and a few less moderate/slow runs. I also need to be getting in more threshold runs, as I feel I might be hitting that zone 3 wall.

Lol is right. Guess I’ll claim frontal lobe damage for forgetting that was ever the case. Cuz pretty sure it never was! Haha

I'm on auto subscription for a monthly Maurten Gel 100 12-Pack that I won't need this month.

If anyone wants this month's shipment hit me up on a Strava run comment with your contact info and I'll send them your way; no charge. I dont want them to go to waste in my closet.

If you have my IRL contact info, reach out if you want them...

First come, first serve.

Looks like the hot and humid weather got the best of PHB this morning. I couldn't imagine trying to race in this crap. Great effort this morning PHB, time to re-rack and get it on in 2020.

Yeah no doubt. 97% humidity and if the dew point is anything like La., it sucked. In freaking December.

Damn. It’s hot and humid out there.

Just getting some miles in today. I’m enjoying the 3/1 on long mileage. Today was seven miles at 160-165 heart rate. Finished the last three miles at 180+ heart rate. This is my 15K route coming up in April. I have named one of the hills, The Beast. She’s at mile 7 on my training route and is right at 300ft of elevation change over a little more than 3/4 of a mile.

So far, The Beast is winning as I’ve had to walk it both attempts. Today I made it further than the first time. Ultimately, I will win.

Thanks for the Strava comments, guys. So, I ran my marathon this a.m. in 3:45:43. And I bonked long and hard today, my friends. I bonked as hard as I did when I ran my first.

Temp was 60 degrees, humidity at 97%, and dew point was almost the same as the temp. I ran 3:28 at Chicago in October on a perfect weather day. I felt I was in better shape going into today. So, despite the weather, I went out for a modest PR and came through the first half at 1:42. But My HR was high the whole way, and I couldn’t keep it down. Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was the legs, maybe both, but I died out there somewhere between mile 14-18. I locked up so bad at mile 24, I thought I might have to drop. Some people who need to be nominated for sainthood gave me pickle juice until I could move again.

Looking back, I know better and should’ve throttled back a bit under the conditions. But I definitely learned a few things out there today and will look forward to 2020.

It’s been a great 2019 of running for me: 3 marathons, 2 50-Ks, a half, and a 5-k. Here’s to 2020 guys

You are an animal dude. You should be proud of yourself for absolutely killing 2019. Enjoy it if only for a little bit, Brah!
