Jordan - I use the Vivoactive 3 and don’t have any sync issues. Did you try to manually sync in the Garmin app? Strava tends to be glitchy on weekends (especially Sundays) and around races, so maybe it’s a Strava issue.
Definitely slower on the weekends.
Jordan, do the events show up in Garmin after you save the activity from the watch and it syncs? It should be a colored block with the activity.
If so, the it’s something from Garmin to Strava?

Yep. Activities show up in my Garmin connect, just can’t them to sync over to Strava. Gonna wait and see, might be a weekend glitch or something. Thanks for the help

Yeah obviously skeptical of those top times. That said, I know a guy who was around 17 mins & his Strava time matches the results, so I dunno.

5:57 on my mile this morning. About what I expected. Had a lot left the end so my final quarter split was much better. They ran us in age groups instead of ability level. So when I got to the start I was far back and had to run around a bunch of slow fricks.

Heat and humidity kicked my arse on my 10k run today.

Still no luck with getting my activities from Garmin to Strava. Really annoying. I checked both the Garmin and Strava upload status pages and both are online and working, I also have disconnected and reconnected the apps multiple times and created test activities in Garmin so they’ll sync to Strava...nothing.

My first ever 5k is coming up on Sept 21st.
I still have week 7 and 8 to go on my C25K program. This week will be 2.5 mile jogs Mon/Weds/Fri. Here's my question regarding the last week of training leading up to the event: Should I train on week 8 Sat/Mon/Weds before the race leaving me two days of recovery or just skip the Fri run and keep the Mon/Weds training schedule? Week 8 of C25K is 2.75 miles twice then 3 miles on the last day.
My road miles tend to be in the 9:10 - 9:40 range. Not setting any speed records, but at 45 and never having run before in my life, I'm happy. Honestly, just finishing without stopping would be fine with me.

Yeah I tried all of the suggestions on their support page, but I tried them from my phone. Going to try from my laptop when I get a chance.

Everyone is different and it all depends on how you are feeling honestly. 2 days off won’t affect your progress and can be more beneficial than running if you are feeling beat up. Personally I’d get some light running/walking in the day before and definitely before the race to get all the systems up and at it. I usually get a mile warm up prior to a race, but that may be a little steep for you at this point. Good luck buddy; those paces you are running are damn good considering your experience.

So, gf and I were planning to do the Jazz Half but something came up and not able to run it. Y’all got any half marathon recommendations between October and January of 2020? Looking for something within reasonable driving distance of NOLA and with a fun route for two novice half marathoners.

A few of us from this thread are doing the Northshore Half which is the day after Jazz. (Sunday)
Big Easy Run Fest 1/2 - 11/16. I did this one last year, it was OK. Had quite a few overpasses, which were unexpected. I expected more City Park, less highways.
Manchac 10 Miler 11/23 - Not a HM, but a 10 miler. I did this one last year also. Takes place on old Highway 51 in Manchac.
Baton Rouge Beach 1/2 - 12/07
Ole Man River 1/2 (Gretna) - 12/14
MS. Gulf Coast 1/2/Full - 12/14

I'm finding motivation hard to come by these days. Wife's work schedule and kids' school schedules are keeping me from getting runs in anywhere but around my house. I'm in desperate need of a change of scenery. I've ran the neighborhoods around my house so many times that I can tell how far in a run I am at any time within a 100 meters or so.

Thanks roots
That MS Gulf Half sounds pretty appealing right now. May end up doing that one.

Agreed. I mean, I should be used to it by now since it is September. However, for whatever reason, the heat this week is really beating me up.
I have a 25K trail run race in 5 weeks. It should be substantially cooler by then. I have that to look forward to.

Ditto. Oddly, the heat isn't bothering me too much, it's the fact that if I don't get up at o'dark thirty, I'm likely not getting a run in. I did manage to squeeze in a little over 5 miles (around my neighborhood) yesterday after work. I would say I'd be more excited to run once it cools off, but that won't take all the other stuff off my plate.
